Twilight Princess Game Review
Twilight Princess is the darkest, most serious and most serious Nintendo 3D Zelda game. It pushes the graphical display on the Wii to its limits. It's darker and more unsettling than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs, nor effeminate Pirates.
Link is pulled into a parallel dimension known as Twilight Realm, where he assumes the form of a Hylian and a wolf, while being guided by Midna.
Gameplay
Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. Reviewers praised the game, giving it excellent scores in a variety of publications such as 1UP CVG EGM and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the best game in the franchise and the most popular Zelda title on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess features a naturalistic, stylized graphic style that is reminiscent of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphical engine. It is the first in the series to feature an entirely directional control system instead of a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This change was made in order to make room for the Wii console, which comes with an interface based on pointing. The GameCube version comes with an area at the back of the game, with mirror-image maps, which are for those who prefer an image that is fixed.
Link transforms into a wolf once he enters the Twilight Realm. He also meets Midna, an enigmatic creature. She informs Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group of shadow beasts that are led by the evil sorcerer Zant. She also reveals that she is the real ruler of Twili but was taken over by Zant and cursed to her current form.
When Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle, a short cut scene shows the soldiers being killed by the shadow creatures. Link and Midna then escape from the castle by an escape tunnel that leads to the Twilight Realm.
Link can move more freely in the Twilight Realm by using his Wolf form. Link can also use his senses to navigate the world. He can sense ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. Link can also pick grass from certain patches and whistle with it to call an animal, such as a Hawk or Epona. Link can also whistle near the patches to summon a similar animal.
Twilight Princess is no different from earlier Zelda titles in that music plays an important role. Link can play an instrument of music, such as the harp or flute to draw attention to and summon animals. He can also use his voice to command the wolf form. He can also use his compass to guide him to help him navigate the world.
Characters
The Legend of Zelda is full of unique and colorful characters that will leave an impression that will last forever. From hands that come out of toilets to pirates traversing vast oceans, these unique and imaginative characters are the core of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, introducing many memorable characters.
Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story, who are not only interesting, but also credible. It's a major step towards the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story instead of just acting as victims. NPCs like Rusl who explains that the forest is more dangerous and kidnaps children as well as the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf while the kids are kidnapped all have unique personalities.
Other notable characters include Iza who manages the Boat Rental Cabin in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who helps Wolf Link find a secret passageway into the castle through her bar and sewer system, and Faron whose spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The duo defeats the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and obtains the first Tear of Light.
Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most captivating characters in the game. She can switch between wolf and human forms and is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom. She talks to Link about her experience in the twilight, and how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.
Zant who is the other part of the Triforce of Wisdom, is a wicked sorcerer, the ruler of the Twilight Realm. The goddesses banished him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and taking over their land. Midna can dispel Zant's power permitting him to transform into his human form if needed.
Epona is a more powerful horse that can be riding in both Wolf and Hylian forms. Link can whistle near certain patches of grass to summon the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where the player can name their horse.
Theme
Music is an important part of any Zelda game. It can make a game appear vast exciting, expansive, and captivating. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its inconsistent and sporadic soundtrack that doesn't capture the emotional impact of certain scenes. In contrast, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have captivating music that blossom at exactly the right moment to create a feeling of grandness and eerie.
Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were the composers for the sound design and music in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo as the composer in charge for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the traditional approach to the franchise, with a minimalist approach to the melody and arrangement. Most field and dungeon music begins with a single instrumental that creates a mystical and atmospheric ambiance for the player. For example, the haunting music of Midna's lament makes use of an ordinary piano to create an overflowing feeling of sadness for the player.
The most well-known examples are dungeon themes, that have a dark and sombre atmosphere. This approach is most evident in the Twilight Realm theme, which has a sonic landscape that would be at home on a David Lynch film. The lack of melody and the traditional arrangement of this track accentuates its ominous, unsettling nature. Drones and bizarre patterns collide to create a bleak texture.
Link' starlight princess max win -town song, "Faron Woods," is a more upbeat and joyful song. This tune uses various soft sounds and stringed instruments to evoke an idyllic sense of security and peace for the player. The song contains a subtle nod to the most well-known scene from the franchise, since it features a melody that is reminiscent of the famous melody that plays at Ocarina of Time's start.
Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change depending on the player's location, the activity they're doing, and what is happening. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of its theme for each part of the town. Central Square, for instance, has a more boisterous version. These variations are a nice addition that can help to create a sense of depth and immersion to the world of Hyrule.
Story
The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to stop Hyrule from being engulfed by the corrupted dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To accomplish this, he assumes the form of both a Hylian and a Wolf and is being assisted by a woman named Midna.
Midna was the first ruler of Twili but she was supplanted and cursed by Zant into her imp form. The Sages of the past explain to Link and Midna that only defeating Ganondorf can be the key to their release from their curse. The Sages explain that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to dwell in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link journey to the Spirit's Spring where they encounter hostile creatures that kidnap kids. Wolf Link's keen nose helps them track the children's scent to a bridge nearby that they cross over into the Twilight Realm.
They enter the Forest Temple, battle Diababa and obtain the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).
Midna, at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link onto a fiery stone and unleashes her power on the ice beneath Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit, the recently gone Zora queen, appears to Link and informs him that he needs to visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to access the treasure of the Zora.
Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask The horse Epona is able to be riding in Twilight Princess. Link can choose the name of the horse, a change from the predetermined names used in previous games.
Midna and Link are able to recover the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. At the Palace of Twilight, the Sages declare that Midna is actually the real ruler of the Twili and Hyrule kingdoms, but she has been ostracized by the monarchy and was turned into an idol to obtain power. The Sages also inform them that the only way to defeat Ganondorf is to bring him to the light and break the alliance between the Twilight and Hyrule kingdoms.
