For example, he can hear the spirits of dead soldiers and other animals in the distance. Link can also pick grass from certain patches and whistle with it to summon an animal, for instance the Hawk or Epona. Link can also howl near the patches to summon an identical animal.

As with earlier Zelda games, music plays a large role in Twilight Princess. Link can play a musical instrument like the flute or harp to attract and summon various animals. Link can also control the wolf's appearance through his voice. Additionally, he can use his compass to guide him around the world and keep him from getting lost.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda series is filled with colorful characters that leave an unforgettable impression on players. From hands emerging from toilets to pirates traversing vast oceans, these unique and imaginative characters are the core of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, and introduces many memorable characters.

In the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs that are not only intriguing, but also plausible. It's an important step forward that so many of these NPCs aren't just there as victims they actually are a part of the story. NPCs like Rusl who declares that the forest is becoming more dangerous now and kidnaps kids or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf when the kidnappers are taking children all have distinct personalities.

Other notable characters include Iza who manages the Boat Rental Caf in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who aids Wolf Link find a secret access point to the castle through her bar, sewer system, and Faron his spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The two team members defeat Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear Of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most captivating characters in the game. She is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom and can change between her human and her wolf-like impish form. She talks to Link about her experience at the twilight, and about how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant who holds the other half of the Triforce of Wisdom, is an evil sorcerer and the ruler of the Twilight Realm. He was banished to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for stealing their land and enslaving people. Zant's magic keeps him permantently in wolf form, however Midna eliminates the power and allows him to transform into his human form when required.

The game also features an upgraded horse, called Epona that can be mounted in Hylian and wolf forms. Link can whistle near specific grass patches to call the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series in which the player can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is a crucial element of any Zelda game. It can make a game feel epic, expansive, and engrossing. Twilight Princess' soundtrack is criticised for being sporadic and inconsistent and doesn't convey certain emotional moments. Contrastingly, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have captivating music that explode at precisely the right time to create a sense of grandeur and eeriness.

Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to prevent Hyrule from being sucked into the corrupted parallel dimension referred to as the Twilight Realm. To accomplish this, Link adopts the form of a Hylian or a Wolf and is aided by a woman called Midna.

Midna is the first ruler of the Twili, but she was supplanted by Zant and cursed into her imp form. The Sages of the Old Testament explain to Link and Midna that only defeating Ganondorf will remove them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to exist in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link journey to the Spirit's Spring where they encounter predatory creatures that kidnap children. Utilizing Wolf Link's acute sense of smell, they trace the children's scent to a bridge and then cross into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa and win the first Fused Shadow. Faron informs them of the next destination, the Eldin Province in the west (Wii), or east (GCN).

Midna, at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link to a fiery rock and unleashes her power on the ice beneath Lake Hylia. The spirit of the recently deceased Zora Queen, Rutela, then appears and informs Link that he must go to the Lakebed Temple in order to gain access to the treasures of Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask The horse Epona can again be riding in Twilight Princess. Link can select the name of the horse, unlike the predetermined names in the previous games.

Upon arriving in the Twilight Realm, Midna and Link are able to retrieve the remaining Mirror Shards. The Sages inform Midna that she is the real ruler of the Twili.
