15 Terms Everyone Who Works In Item Upgrades Industry Should Know
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment because of their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they're connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it should be heavier.
There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different impact. Certain upgrades grant armor an extra amount of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get is indicated by the name of the upgrade as shown in the table below.
item upgrades of the upgrades also require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Additionally, some upgrades require charges to use, which is shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more costly, however, it is available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can give significant improvements in stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.
The player should be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it can also decrease its agility and its speed. This is why it is not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 because the increase in defense is generally not worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades required.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For example an upgrade can enhance the damage caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Certain firearms have upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the risk of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's speed for greater damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. These can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. The cost of upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until you reached a max upgrade level of the weapon or equipment, after which the upgrades would reset.
It's still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're much better off going to stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels, but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better chance of granting you the most prestigious tier of benefits and blessings.
To level up faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates utilize to increase their power. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will make it more useful when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to increase the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method for creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is at when it is inserted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.
The Jeweler can craft all kinds of gems, apart from the rare and legendary ones that you must attain a certain level to get. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out with another jewel of the same kind without destroying it. You can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.
The use of more jewels in the movement can make it feel more comfortable and is usually performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to improving performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the look of your weapons and shields. They offer a small benefit and can be swapped freely, but are not guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer many small but useful advantages to your hero. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available from vendors and by doing road interaction. They may also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak, which gives a small but useful bonus in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar fashion similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that is either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and are only compatible with certain trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't in combat. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and may also help fill in the void of a strong team or the absence of any talent tree slots which would normally be filled with hero's ideal stats.
In general, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Also, consider items with desirable stats that aren't as important as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's usually better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.
Jungle players will often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the start of the game. Mid and top players on the other hand they will select either a pink or green ward, depending on the matchup. These choices can impact the ability of a hero to control the map.
Apart from the items mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or defeating the boss. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
