15 Terms Everybody Who Works In Item Upgrades Industry Should Know
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of many Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading their performance. They can be a great source of additional damage and more AD or even more attaches.
In most cases, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is beaten out by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They increase the performance of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items that have upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will raise its weight, requiring it to weigh more than it was before.
There are a few different types of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the armor upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade the item can be given, as illustrated below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require a charge to use, which is shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire, according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on armor pieces that are of high-level. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in performance and are worth the investment, especially for 1-handed weapons.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense values. However, it will also reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The added defense generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. For instance an upgrade can improve the damage that is caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Some weapons have special enhancements to enhance their intrinsic qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by doing side quests, or killing a certain number of bosses or monsters, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade the weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade you need to visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of Bars. The more bars required to complete an upgrade the more expensive the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Previously you could go to an Upgrade Bench and pay for a specific amount of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased rarity. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear with minimal upgrade levels and high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a greater chance of granting you the most prestigious tier of blessings and perks.
Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Additionally, players should consider upgrading the weapons they use with their teammates to increase their power as well. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when used with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels can be used to boost a stat or provide secondary effects on weapons and armor. They can be created using a process called jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gem with a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the level of the gem has, the more powerful its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The quality of a jewel can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it's slotted into weapons, jewelry, or gear.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to be able to get them. Jewels can be replaced by another jewel without damaging the original. However, you can only replace the jewels in an item of equipment once.
Utilizing more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable, and is often performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. The jewels also improve performance and create a harder surface than metal so that repeated friction from pivots do not damage them.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your weapons and shields. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be traded, but they're not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs are also removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis cannot be swapped out, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are a great way to provide your hero with various small, but valuable advantages. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by performing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak, which grants a small, but valuable boost to movement speed and the ability to escape. upgrade item can then collect rings, amulets and necklaces in a similar manner similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets also grant additional bonuses and abilities that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This lets the hero be more effective when not active and also helps make up for a lack of a solid team or any slots from the talent tree that normally are filled with hero's ideal stats.
As a general rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace in the near future. Also, consider items that have desirable statistics are less significant than the iLevel for the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat instead of two subpar ones.
In the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their trinket into a red one in the middle and top players usually choose a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.
Apart from the things mentioned above, players may also discover a variety of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. They can be earned by completing certain milestones in the story, like the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
