15 Reasons To Not Ignore Robot Vac
Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has an enormous bin that will need to be emptying every so often.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with children or pets. Many of the best performers in our tests have good ability to overcome obstacles.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its debris into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it began. Battery life is about an hour-and-a-half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating and -- the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.
In our testing, the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

In a world full of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model is an automobile. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit in well next to the coffee table or shelves that you can spin around like an enchanted tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as an wand clip. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are a pain to store.
The V10's main drawback is its short running time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a standard battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second pass generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often is power-depleted before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer parts that require regular maintenance and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and low-pile carpet, while providing a wider array of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is seen on a variety of home electronics So it's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and many more. The app is simple to learn and use, just like other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it didn't do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a problem for some shoppers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature allows you to check in on pets or the kids if you're away from home. The dustbin and filter are washable for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps keep the bin clean and optimizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are made for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have an extra wide cleaning path, and dust bins that are 2X bigger than the competitors. This lets them clean the area for longer. They also include two side sweepers that can be used to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also includes a smart application that lets you browse the virtual map, and control the functions and schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging with the press of a single button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot in the event of need. My living room rug for example is darkly colored that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL however was able to continue to move across the border, without notifying the cliff. Also, the ability to create weekly cleaning schedules is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
