Transponder Chip Key
The transponder chip is a security device that transmits an unique code to the car's immobilizer once it's inserted into the ignition. The immobilizer then stops the vehicle's fuel pump, starter motor and any other device that would permit it to run it wasn't for the chip's identification code.
The key is generally composed of only metal and has a plastic head that houses the transponder. To remove the key from the ignition, you'll need to use a screwdriver or pliers to achieve enough leverage to unlock the lock. The chip is put on a piece of tape and is attached to the ignition barrel to the ignition lock.
