They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have tested. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
