Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all performed on Boz Scaggs’ 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 following the collaboration.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics due to the absence of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Fredericksen left, and the band held auditions to find a replacement frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark its 20th anniversary. The band went through old recordings and tapes to create the album. The album was well received by fans and the band went on a tour featuring former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
In the course of the tour for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun, drummer Leland Sklar departed from the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
