10 Misconceptions That Your Boss May Have Concerning Item Upgrading
Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Usually items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or obtained from chests or missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be, as well as the component or material needed to make that happen.
There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are gems that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from previous versions. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item can only be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
After a piece has been upgraded to its highest level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to get to its maximum level the NPC will offer the player the option to transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower success rate.
Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building with a known point, such as an existing benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game, and it can increase an item's damage, strength or other characteristics. This can be done through the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be handled with care.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
In the past, some upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you would be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than others. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are offered into the standard affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the greater your chance of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also includes various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on a unit. This is a great method of giving the character more power without spending a lot of money.
Resource have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling can provide a much faster path to a powerful character, allowing them to reach high tiers and progress the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be of different sizes, contain no elements, or contain one element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Sets of armor that offer the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, weapon upgrades often do not boost the item's stats much compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.
Certain set items are upgraded to meet their unique procs which can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to the level of the different tiers. For example, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. This will display the item's attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the upgrade requirements of specific items.
Generally speaking generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will give a substantial increase in their power. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will also benefit from this, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
