Key Replacement

There are a variety of keys for Mazda vehicles. Some require programming, and others don't. Programming requires a special machine that only dealers has or an automotive locksmith can use. Metal keys that are not transponder-equipped are not required to be programmed.
To ensure you do not lose your key to avoid losing it, ensure it's located in a safe place in a safe place where children are not able to reach it. Keep a record of the code number on the plate attached with the key set. Don't keep it in your car. Key Fob Battery Replacement
Replace the battery if your key fob is no longer working or if its buttons are not working as well. It's not difficult to do it yourself, but you will require a small screwdriver and the new battery. Be sure not to cause damage to any rubber rings on the old battery that are resting. Replace these prior to installing the new battery.
Using your screwdriver, pry both seams of the case apart. It will probably be easier to place your screwdriver in a few areas around the perimeter of the case, and then gently pull it out. You may need to repeat this procedure a few more times before the case opens completely.
Place your new battery into the slot. Make sure that the positive (+ side) is facing upwards. It is possible that you will need to press firmly on both sides of the case in order to snap it shut. After the case has been closed then put the ring made of metal back on the case and test the key fob to confirm that the buttons are working.
Transponder flip key battery replacement
This is a key that has an electronic microchip in the head. The chip has a unique identification number that can be matched up with a special antenna ring that is used in the car that allows it to start up. It is crucial that your battery functions when you own one of these key fobs.
The Key has a cover on the side that conceals the internal battery. There's also an external battery cover that is fixed in place. Remove both using a flat blade screwdriver to pull them up from the corner. The key can then be taken apart, the new battery can be put in, and the PCB may be clipped back into position. The front cover (one with buttons) can be clipped in place, remember to position the rubber pads to ensure that the buttons function.
The replacement shell comes with the key blade which will need to be trimmed and the roll pin put in. A Mazda locksmith or specialist is required to program it professionally. It's not compatible with the ignition or door locks. The blade of the key may also need to be modified to a smaller size of 14mm.
