The X2 Omni is the latest model in Ecovacs' line of hybrid robot vacuum-mop robots. The system uses dual laser LiDAR, which is similar to the one used in self-driving vehicles. It can scan a space that is up to 32 feet by 360 degrees. It's a great mid-range robotic vacuum cleaner, even if it doesn't exactly live up to its promise to be an all-in-one solution for floor cleaning.
The X8 Hybrid appears to be a standard robotic cleaner from the top. It is a circular design with sweeping wheels, and an elevated sensor. Flip it over, however you'll see an electric floor brush and a single side sweeper brush that pushes dirt from the edges of the machine into the main path of the robot's'mouth'. It's smaller than the main brushes on the competing iRobot Roomba S9, which I found makes it easier to get under chairs and sofas.
Its mapping system allows you to set up no-mop areas and specific cleaning zones. However, it has a tendency to hit things (including its charging dock) and isn't always adept at climbing over carpets. It was great at getting pet hair off of the floor. In our tests it picked up 89.5 percent of kitty litter.
The X8 Hybrid is controlled via an app, but it also has a set of physical buttons on its base. These buttons let you choose a cleaning mode or turn the robot off/on. You can also use them to set no-go zones as well as see real-time maps. This robot was very successful in our tests of hardwood floors and food particles. It was able to pick up everything, from a single rice grain to multiple pet food pieces in only one sweep. It had some trouble with rugs however, in general the vacuum cleaner is great for large rooms that have floors of different types and a mix of pets.
It's not cheap but if you're able to handle the cost this is a great option for those who wish to be able to leave their homes completely free to perform other tasks or to take care of chores. The A4s Pro has a convenient auto-cleaning feature that increases suction to get rid of difficult dirt or spills. It also includes a battery-powered ElectroWall to set boundaries for the robot.
This budget-friendly option from a well-known brand is the cheapest model we've tested to date and offers an incredible value for money. Its navigation system is based on a basic random pathing algorithm, and it's not equipped to map rooms. This renders it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and into the corners. Its mopping mode performed well in our tests, picking up stray hair and other debris.

Shark's iQ may not be as well-built as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in cleaning up pet hair on all surfaces. It is more effective of cleaning carpets with low piles as well as bare floors. It also makes use of smart-pathing navigational software for greater mobility. It can be directed to a particular area and has a suite of advanced automation options, including no-go zones and schedules.
