One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or at school. With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra

For larger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
