During the year, the number of counterfeit banknotes in circulation decreased by 20%, to 6,565 pieces. In 2025, there was only 1 counterfeit for every 1 million banknotes in circulation.

What is forged most often:

5,000 rubles — 62% of all detected forgeries

1,000 rubles — 31%.

The largest number of counterfeit money was detected in the Central, Southern and Northwestern Federal Districts.

The number of counterfeit foreign banknotes, on the contrary, increased by 44% (primarily due to counterfeit US dollars). A total of 2,703 such forgeries were discovered.
