Zhonghua Book Company (simplified Chinese: 中华书局有限公司; traditional Chinese: 中華書局有限公司; pinyin: ), formerly spelled Chunghwa, is a Chinese publishing house that focuses on the humanities, and especially on classical Chinese works. Its headquarters are located in Beijing. The company was founded in Shanghai in 1912-01-01 as the Chung Hwa Book Co., Ltd. (上海中華書局有限公司) by Lubi Kui, a former manager of the Commercial Press, another Shanghai-based publisher that had been established in 1897. From the year of its foundation to the birth of the People's Republic of China in 1949, it published about 5,700 titles, excluding reprints. Chunghwa's punctuated editions of the Twenty-Four Histories have become standard. The publishing project, which started in 1959 on a suggestion by Mao Zedong, was completed in 1977.

Introduction of the China Zodiac Stamps Friday, February 24th, 2012 If you are Chinese, you certainly know the tale about 12 Zodiac(12生肖). They are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, cock, dog, pig. The great Chinese ancestors used these 12 different animals and another 12 characters (zi, chou, yin, mao, chen, si, xu, wei, shen, you, mu, hai) to know the time, together with the other 10 characters(jia, yi, bing, ding, wu, ji, geng, xin, ren, kui), to know the year. We call this timing way – Chinese lunar calendar. Chinese lunar calendar is widely used in agriculture and farming till now. China Hongkong and Taiwan issued zodiac stamps early than China mainland. On 15th February, 1980,gengshen year, the monkey year in lunar calendar, China mainland post issued the first zodiac stamps T46. That’s why China zodiac begin from the rat and China post stamp begin from the monkey T46. Till 2012, China post have issued the 1st round zodiac stamps, 2nd round zodiac stamps and ten of the 3rd round zodiac stamps.
The 1st round zodiac stamps is famous with the first zodiac stamp T46 year of monkey. At that time when the 1st zodiac stamp was issued, it did not attract much attention. With the fillowing zodiac stamps, T46 year of monkey seemed to be more and more important. People found the left T46 which in good condition was a very small quantity,compared with its printing amount. Things always be more valuble when it’s rare. So does the T46. The 2nd round zodiac stamps have 24 pieces in total set. Every zodiac stamp have a pieces of Zodiac image and a Chiese character. 2000-1 year of the dragon and 2001-2 year of the snake are the most popular. To be frank, I prefer 2000-1 year of the dragon, it’s so beautiful. The 3rd round zodiac stamps have only 9 zodiac issued.
