Home Guides How to Install an Entrance Door Lock How to Install an Entrance Door Lock The door locks for entrance doors are commonly designed in a very particular way. Install an entrance door lock with help from a foreman for Lighty Contractors in this free video clip. Video Transcript Hello, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors. And today I'm going to show you how to install an entrance door lock. For this, we're going to be using a Phillips head screwdriver. Step one is to go ahead and take your plunger and put it into the door. Take your screws and put them in. Make sure you do not over-tighten these.

That's why I don't recommend using a drill for this because a lot of people tend to over-tighten it and it ends up pinching their plunger, and doesn't allow it to open and close properly. You just want to snug it up a little bit, that way you don't strip out the wood or fiberglass on the door. After you get that done you want to take the exterior part of the door and the interior part. Putting the exterior part through the hole making sure that you line the screws up through the proper holes there. After that's done, go ahead and take the interior part of the door and match up the lock here, making sure that the door locks and unlocks properly. After that you're ready to put your mounting screws in. What I like to do is go ahead and get one started and then pull out on the door knob a little bit and insert the other one. That way you can take a peek behind this plate here and make sure you're getting it into the hole correctly. After you get them tightened down a little bit, go ahead and take your Phillips head screwdriver and tighten them all the way down.

Make sure you aren't scratching the knob with the shaft of the screwdriver as you're putting them in. And you want to make sure you do not over-tighten these. If you do it wont allow the knob to twist freely to move the plunger. I like to go ahead and make sure that it's twisting nice, it's not catching on anything. Go ahead and lock the door. Make sure that it's locking properly. And that's how you do it. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors. And that's how you can install an entrance door knob. The physical installation was fine. However only the keycard would correctly code and the fob would not. Very worried after reading some early reviews.

I installed the lock in under 10 minutes, tested great, paired fob and card, then phone. The 1 Star does not relate to the actual product. The product is very well made, great looking and easy to follow installation guide. DO NOT PLEASE BUY THIS PRODUCT EVER!Even if you do not require the lock to work with the app which I didn't-It would lock then not open, then open then not lock! This is an impressive lock, well made and solid. It appears to be very secure; there is no key or keypad so there is nothing for burglars to pick or open in other ways. Put simply, this does not work.I removed the lock from the packaging and one of the bags had clearly already been opened and their was a smudge on the side of the lock? The product is good quality and it works well with the key fob , but the app just won't work to unlock by phone , it beeps when you put your phone near it but won't unlock ,... Easy to install...instructions were easy to follow and didn’t take me too long to fit.
