Taking place in Malaysia, where they both grew up, the wedding was held in Enderong Resort, a highland retreat with the most gorgeous wooden lodges. Oozing rustic elegance, the dreamy she-bang featured bounteous white and blush flowers, exposed lightbulbs strung across the ceiling, a romantic wishing tree draped in streamers, and a vintage bicycle symbolising Jason's surprise gift-bearing trips to Kim's house when they were teenagers. Kim tells us all about the sensational day below... We both live in Melbourne, Australia, but because most of our family and friends are back home, we both decided to have it in Malaysia and flew in our overseas crowd instead. I’ve always wanted a romantic, rustic wedding, but Jason has always dreamt of the perfect beach wedding. However, it didn’t take long to convince him to have a romantic, rustic-themed wedding when he saw our wedding venue, a beautiful sanctuary that's just a 40-minute drive away from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur.

We were inspired by its natural beauty. The tall timber pillars, glass doors, high ceiling and green surroundings were the perfect setting for us. We wanted to bring out the beauty of the venue by decorating it with lots and lots of hanging light bulbs and fresh white flowers with a hint of blush here and there. We wanted a romantic yet casual look and our amazing planner from Tie The Knot did a fantastic job executing it. It looked better than my inspirations on my Pinterest board. We’ve included special details that have attached meanings to our relationship. A vintage bicycle was included as part of the décor because Jason used to ride his bicycle to my house when we were teenagers just to drop gifts for me without even seeing me. We had authentic coconut ice cream served at our wedding during the interval between the wedding ceremony and reception. Jason and I both love coconut ice cream and we will go hunting high and low for it. That was a real winner with the crowd.

The wedding cake was made by one of my talented bridesmaids. Photography for our wedding was a top priority for us, as it really is the only thing that will let you relive those amazing moments again. We are so glad our photographer, Jonathan Ong flew in from Melbourne to capture our magical moments together. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with. Kim's advice for brides-to-be: Our advice to other couples planning their wedding is to really take your time and be sure to include each other in decision-making. It means so much more when both the bride and groom are involved in the details of the wedding. I loved having Jason’s opinion. It will also help you learn things about each other that you don't already know. Just like a marriage, you can’t have just one person making the decisions all the time – it’s teamwork that makes a marriage work. Remember that in the end, what matters most is the marriage, not the wedding. Wedding dress: Esmond Goh
