I'll be flying, and obviously won't be able to bring all my beach stuff with me. Are there beach chair and umbrella rentals in North Myrtle Beach? Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated!! One destination mentioned in this post On SOB, they run $30/day. You save money with multiple-day rentals, but have to pay all up front. Hi...this year we are driving to Myrtle Beach so we can bring our own beach chairs. For the years when we flew there, we used to go the store and purchase some sand chairs for the beach. They are very cheap in several places...Walgreens or any other chain store like that. You can get 2 of them for less than the price of a one day rental. At the end of the week we would give them to someone who had just checked in to the hotel.
We were happy, and they were very greatful. My girlfriend just got back from the Ashworth and she said she called North Strand Beach Service and rented 2 of those real good wooden beach chairs and an umbrella for $60 for the week. They delivered them to her. There were some already set up on the beach but they were to expensive. I think it was $150 for the week. She said another family they met rented one of those instant setup tents with 4 chairs for $100. or you can always go to walmart when you get here. I know in the MB area...that if you "bring your own" umbrella, you cannot sit it up in front of where the lifeguards have placed theirs (which is usually high tide line)....I've just always been a fan of having someone else lug all my stuff to the beach, so we always rented the beach chairs/umbrellas when we vacationed here (usually 2 and then we'd "share") In fact...when we made the move here, that was the first few peices of furniture that we purchased! Those really nice wooden beach chairs and the nice canvas umbrella.....wish I could've purchased one of the lifeguards to carry it all to the beach for me too!
They don't have that rule in NMB about setting up your umbrella. I was there this spring and a police officer told me the lifeguards no longer rent chairs and umbrellas. I'm assuming you will have a rental car. My suggestion is to go to Walmart or one of the beach shops and buy some cheap chairs and an umbrella. You can use them all week and when you leave, you can just leave them at the resort. I'm sure someone will put them to good use after you leave. I can't believe that they would charge that kind of money for a one day rental. You can easily get a chair and umbrella for less than the cost of one day's rental. Last year I bought a sand chair.. for 12.00 at one of those beach stores... My husband and I are in North Myrtle Beach now, we are leaving tomorrow. We rented the beach chairs and umbrellas from Monday to Friday it was $90 and well worth the money. You cannot set your umbrella up in front of the rental umbrellas I witnessed people being moved. This time of year the beach behind the rental umbrellas is pretty full with people setting up umbrellas and massive structures (little pavillions).
For us the money was well spent, we don't have to carry anything and we are guaranteed a place in front everyday. You can keep an eye on the kids much better too! I'm not sure how far up you will be but we are at the Ocean Reef if that helps any. This has been extremely helpful. I'm actually staying at the Ashworth, so I was glad to see mention of it. I'm looking forward to my beach time! What about beach blanket/towel/sand chair with NO umbrella, can you set that up closer to the water than the rental chair/umbrella setup?
