"The Battle Is Building" LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is the sequel to LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and was released 11 November, 2011 in North America and 18 November, 2011 in Europe. It was released on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii, PS Vita, and 3DS.[2] A PC version was also produced but was immediately withdrawn due to DRM issues, and the PC version was reissued on 28 November. The Mac version, published by Feral Interactive, was released on 7th March 2012. Like its immediate predecessor, many events from the books and films have been changed for comedic purposes as well as to better accommodate two player co-op.
The game, along with Years 1-4, were re-released for the PlayStation 4 on October 21, 2016 as a remastered collection including updated graphics and resolution, as well as including all the previously released DLCs. Based on the last three Harry Potter books and final four Harry Potter films, LEGO® Harry Potter: Years 5-7 takes players through Harry Potter’s heroic adventures in the Muggle and wizarding worlds. The first pack of downloadable content, also known as DLC, was made available for the game on 13 December, 2011 for Xbox 360, and the next day for PlayStation 3. The DLC cost 240 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 and £2.39 GBP for the PlayStation 3. The DLC is titled the "Downloadable Character Pack". The DLC included ten new characters. The characters are as follows: "Like to quack yourself up? Then the new DLC pack of 5 comedy spells for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is for you. Includes Ducklifors (turns a minifig into a LEGO duck), Densaugeo (causes a minifig’s teeth to grow), Melofors (turns a minifig’s head into a pumpkin), Tentaclifors (elongates minifig’s head into a tentacle) and Cantis (makes a minifig sing a catchy tune). But be prepared – while some people totally deserve to be turned into pumpkin-heads, not everyone who bursts into song should quit their day job. You have been warned." The spells are as follows: There have been some incidents of the game ceasing to function (can not read disc) on the Xbox 360 after the character and spell packs are downloaded, TT and WB have been informed of this and we are awaiting their comments. It can be restored by deleting the DLC from your hard drive but there is currently no refund for this. During both space sequences, a portion of gameplay is dedicated to skydiving through rings, and both sequences contain a Shout-Out to 2001: A Space Odyssey (The Monolith in Lego Island 2, and a man drifting through space as classical music plays in Lego City Undercover). The Dragon: Rex Fury is initially set up as being the Big Bad, but he is actually this trope to Blackwell. Drives Like Crazy: Frank Honey is not particularly skilled at driving, even crashing the department's brand-new truck. However, he does gain competence when he and Chase need to deliver forcefield generators to prevent everyone from dying of the exhaust from Blackwell's rocket. Mind you, he still has no respect for traffic lanes, but he makes it there quickly and in one piece, which is a step up. Getting Crap Past the Radar: Several of these involve Frank Honey, sometimes due to his innocence, sometimes due to the circumstances around him. Despite this, he is never arrested in the game even though Chase would have more than enough evidence against him from his time undercover. To a more minor extent, Forest Blackwell is not arrested (even though he's lost in space), and makes it clear he won't stop at getting vengeance on Chase McCain and Lego City. Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: Several minor characters are this as seen in the shout-outs section below, such as "Blue" being a stand-in for Red from The Shawshank Redemption, or "Studsky and Clutch", a character named "Harry" who looks exactly like Dirty Harry and a nameless minifigure (listed as DaMumbo when you unlock it) who looks just like Columbo.
