The Calgary Zoo wants to ensure a safe and convenient experience for everyone. Wheelchair rentals are available, and qualified attendants are given complimentary access to the zoo while accompanying individuals who need special assistance. Service dogs are also welcome on the grounds with proper identification. Wheelchairs are available to rent at the Gift Shop for $21, GST and $10 refundable deposit included. Rentals are on a first-come, first-serve basis – no reservations will be accepted. Power chairs are available to rent (weather dependent) at the Gift Shop for $25. If you have a disability and need assistance while visiting the zoo, you must be accompanied by a paying adult or a qualified attendant. A qualified attendant is a paid employee of an agency that provides this service. Mobility device battery acceptance Failure to provide the required information about your mobility device's battery may result in the battery being denied transportation by WestJet. Please review and have your owner's manual ready when you contact us to identify the type of battery used and the proper stowage method to ensure safe transport. WestJet accepts mobility devices that are powered by spillable, non-spillable, and lithium batteries, however some conditions apply. You must disclose to WestJet if your mobility device is powered by a lithium battery. Amendments may be made to WestJet guidelines and procedures as lithium batteries become more common. We suggest you check back from time to time for changes. Please note: Batteries are classified as dangerous goods; restrictions apply and approval is required for these items as they require additional safety-related handling and packaging.




Spare batteries are accepted for transport, provided that they meet acceptance criteria. All airlines maintain individual criteria for battery acceptance; if you are travelling with WestJet and/or another airline, please confirm the acceptance policy for each airline on your itinerary. Powered collapsible mobility aids containing batteries that require removal for transport and stowage are accepted in the cabin, or as checked baggage. This applies to lithium and non-spillable battery operated units. Scooters that are up to 45 kg (100lb.) and have a battery that must be removed in order for the device to fully collapse (batteries not encased at the base of the scooter), are considered a powered collapsible mobility device. If you are travelling with a lithium battery powered collapsible mobility aid, you are required to remove the battery and stow it in a protective pouch. WestJet does not provide a protective pouch for the battery. Failure to properly remove and stow the battery will result in denial of transportation of the battery.




If you are travelling with a non-spillable battery powered collapsible mobility aid, you are required to remove the battery in order for WestJet to properly package the battery for transport. It is your responsibility to remove the battery, or provide manufacturer's instructions on how to remove the battery. If you are unable to properly remove the battery for transport, or provide instruction on how to do so, the battery will be denied transportation. WestJet strictly adheres to the individual manufacturer recommendation for proper disassembly and stowage as described in the owner's manual. WestJet will accept those mobility devices with non-spillable batteries where the battery is encased and attached to the base of mobility device as long as you or your attendant are able to deactivate or disconnect the battery and/or confirm that there will not be any accidental activation of the battery during transport. If you are not able to deactivate or disconnect the battery, you should be prepared to provide verbal instruction and the original manufacturer's manual, as well as any disassembly instructions you may have related to any modifications made to your mobility device.




If a battery cannot be deactivated or disconnected, it will be denied transportation. WestJet Vacations package bookings Guests with special needs are welcome to book WestJet Vacations packages on the website; however, after completing your booking, we require you to call us at 1-877-737-7001 so we can request the additional services you require.
