Re: Buying latest Lego Robot There are the "retail" version (the one you seem to have found already, it's usually called Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0) and the educational versions. The retail version does not include the recharcable Li-Ion battery which I recommend. What is the difference between the robot you get from the following two sources? To me both seem exactly same version "Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0" except the price?1. How should I know? However, The picture on amazone shows product 8547. So yes, that should be the same box as sold by Lego.The educational set doesn't contain the color sensor, as far as I'm aware. The educational set also doesn't contain the NXT-G software. The software is sold separately. The retail kit contains NXT-G 2.0 while the educational version of the software is NXT-G 2.1. The educational version of NXT-G is also a little bit different from the retail version. I don't remember the exact difference. You should google that. It is the latest evolution of the Lego Mindstorms educational kit and is especially designed for education. This version now includes the Lego EV3 software.This kit contains everything you need for your students to build and program a robot. The smart Lego Mindstorms EV3 Brick (see below for more detailed specifications), various sensors enables your students to come up with creative solutions and an intuitive icon-based programming and data logging software.
Your students will learn the procedure how to develop, build, program and evaluate. This is also an opportunity to enhance the teamwork between your students. Additionally they could gather experience with their hands on simple but powerful sensors. Note that the Non-programming Track of WaterBotics is not at all affected by the discontinuation of the NXT. For the other supporting materials, Pitsco offers two different pre-packaged kits that can be used for both the programming and non-programming tracks. The NXT has been replaced by LEGO's EV3 component. The EV3 version of the WaterBotics curriculum is anticipated to be released by Stevens in the Spring, 2017 and updated equipment lists will be available at that time.
