Nov. 6, 2015, 6:08 p.m. Are you a LEGO collector? Well, good news folks. Shell has recently launched its new Shell V-Power LEGO Collection, in a collaboration with Ferrari and the LEGO Group, to offer you another exclusive range of buildable Ferrari collectibles. This new collection features four iconic Ferrari cars, a Finish line and Podium with a Scuderia Ferrari Engineer LEGO Minifigure, and a Shell Station modeled after the same station found at Fiorano Circuit, Scuderia Ferrari's provate racetrack in Maranello, together with a Shell Scientist LEGO Minifigure. With a minimum purchase of RM40 of Shell V-Power and Shell FuelSave, or 4-liter of Shell Helix Motor Oil, you will be able to purchase one of the six LEGO models in the collection, priced between RM9.90 and RM13.90, depending on model. On top of that, there is a limited-edition Shell Tanker for grabs at RM9.90 for every RM40 pump of Shell V-Power or purchase of 4-liter Shell Helix HX5 and HX7, or if you purchase a 4-liter Shell Helix Ultra, you can get this tanker for free.

This collection celebrates the passion for performance in Shell's 60-year Technical Partnership with Scuderia Ferrari. In this collection, the model cars feature the smallest pull-back motor ever produced by the LEGO Group, made especially for Shell to propel each vehicle more than 2 meters on a single pull. The new models will be released every Sunday from 1 November to 13 December 2015, and will be available for purchase until 31 January 2016, or while stocks last. Should you decide to share your build experience on social media, don't forget to hastag #ReadySetBuild. If you have the chance, do visit Shell V-Power LEGO activity centers at Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya (5-8 Nov) and Gurney Plaza, Penang (12-15 Nov) to view large LEGO models on display and enjoy interactive games and activities. For those not around these two areas, look out for roving trucks bringing Shell V-Power LEGO experience with a life-sized LEGO replica of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One car to Klang Valley, Ipoh, Melaka and other selected locations nationwide.

The Lego fan died in his home at 4am after years of battling bone cancer and was buried in Kuala Selangor later in the morning. Danish had wished to go to Legoland in Johor, but because of his weak condition, doctors advised against travelling. Although he did not manage to visit the park, scores of Malaysians, including Legoland Malaysia Resort, donated Lego toys to turn his room into a miniature Lego wonderland. His dream came true last month when Legoland paid him a visit along with toys and cosplayers to cheer him up. Wan Shahriza Abdul Rahman, 48, who led the Lego gift effort,  said she was deeply affected by his demise. “He had so much to give to the world if given the chance as even his smiles could perk up your day, without him needing to say a word,” said Wan Shahriza, who also lost a son to cancer. “We will miss his positive attitude. Despite what he had gone through, he never stopped smiling.’’ Despite having one of his lungs and one of his legs removed,  Shahriza said, Danish still put others first.

“He asked for his amputated leg to be covered, not because he was sad, but so his friends would not be awkward around him,’’ she said. Mary Anne Loh, 39, who also helped with the effort, said the over-400 Lego contributions they had received had proved Danish’s influence in uniting Malaysians through love and kindness. “We hope his smiles will be remembered by all Malaysians,” said Loh, whose son is also battling cancer. According to Loh, Danish’s mother, Suhaida Mohamad, is also battling breast cancer, but she chose to prioritise her son. Legoland general manager (interim) Young Pil-Kim said it was an emotional moment to hear of Danish’s passing. “When we visited him, we were touched by his strength in facing his challenges with a brave smile,” Young said. “Every child deserves to play and it pained us to see his sufferings. “The team is honoured to be able to share a memorable day with Danish and his family along with all his favourite Lego toys.

“On behalf of Legoland Malaysia, I would like to extend our condolences to his family.” Sci-fi enthusiasts will appreciate a game of laser tag at Galactic Laser. Laser tag shares the same principle as paintball and video games, minus the bruises. Unlike video games, laser tag is not sedentary and requires some running in a multi-level labyrinth-like arena. If you have reservations about the ‘laser’ aspect, fret not. The transmitter is as safe as a television remote control. What the doctor says: Enhances strategic thinking, alertness and problem solving skills. Also builds trust and develops team building. Petrosains seeks to encourage interactive learning. The discovery centre has regular as well as seasonal thematic exhibits in the scientific and technological disciplines like chemistry, physics, geosciences, innovation, aerospace and a particular focus on the oil and gas industry. Once your child starts having a go at the interactive display and activities, they will be so enthralled by the wonders of science that it may be hard to drag them away.

What the doctor says: Good to develop inquisitiveness, encourage creativity, exploration, promotes good memory and knowledge of history of science. If you happen to be in Bangsar Shopping Centre, let your child loose in the jungle-themed indoor playground, Jungle Gym. True to its theme, the entire play area is decorated with faux-vines, animal murals and hanging stuffed monkeys. Made up of two levels, Jungle Gym has the usual get-ups like slides and a ball pool. But more interestingly, there are also rope swings and trampoline. The young ones will definitely be happy albeit slightly exhausted. What the doctor says: Good for creative play, exploration, and socialisation. Gives a child a sense of space and freedom. Aquaria KLCC lets you enjoy the wonders of the ocean and marine life without getting wet. The aquarium is very informative with staff available to assist you. Exhibits include a touch pool to pat sea creatures, a 90-metre transparent tunnel, and the Aquatheatre where the feeding session (including sharks and giant stingrays) takes place.

On the way out, don’t forget to drop by Aquazone for a fish spa treatment. What the doctor says: Soothes the senses, promotes relaxation and harmony with nature, stimulates the sensory system and hygienic for skin (fish spa). It’s a common sight to see budding figure skaters training at Pyramid Ice. But even if you are an amateur or just want to give ice skating a try, Pyramid Ice is open for all. Just bear in mind that while ice-skating may seem easy, it requires certain muscle coordination to stay upright. But once you get the hang of it, gliding across ice will be effortless. What the doctor says: Encourages physical fitness, speed, balance, agility (through various manoeuvres performed during the skating exercise). It is also good for training of the joints and its flexibility. Available in several outlets across Malaysia, the archery range is open to experienced archers as well as keen first timers. Bows are provided, catering to different needs like age and handedness.

Lift the bow, work those pectoral muscles and aim for the bull’s eye. Getting it right on the first try can be a bit of a challenge, so make use of their free coaching service, give it several more tries and that round yellow centre is yours to claim. What the doctor says: Promotes hand eye coordination, good for mental training through judgment of distance. Also improves upper body strength and strength of limbs. Your child can be Spiderman at Camp 5, the rock climbing gym in 1 Utama. Enrol them in Cicak Club for lessons by expert climbers. Don't be concerned by the gym’s rugged interior as the floor is well padded and safety marshals are always at hand. If you think rock climbing is reserved for a certain type, you couldn’t be more wrong. A line-dancing grandmother has done it as well. So join in your child and maybe you’ll gain more than just upper body strength. What the doctor says: Good for physical fitness development, strength of limbs, and ability to make safety-related judgments.
