But before you start building, there are a few things to consider, such as the size, color, and design of your aircraft carrier. Once you have some ideas ready, let your creative juices flow and have fun. Before putting any Legos together, choose your permanent work space and make sure that there are no distractions or clutter surrounding it. Whether working from a set specifically made for building a Lego aircraft carrier or being creative and building one from your imagination, it is smart to gather similar bricks and pieces and group them together. Besides grouping pieces by kind, you may also group pieces by color, size, or even shape. After establishing this, count your pieces and store them in a plastic bag or container so they are not mixed with other pieces. Good planning leads to great craftsmanship, so plan accordingly. Decide on things like how long and wide, the overall shape, and color your aircraft carrier is before you start building. Doing so helps you determine how many bricks you use for each portion of your carrier.
Again, how big or small you wish to make your aircraft plays a part in how many Legos you use. Once you finalize your ideas, begin making a base for your aircraft carrier. If you want your carrier to stand on its own, use a single strip of Legos as your base. This way, your ship has a solid even base to support it. Putting the base-strip aside, create the first layer of your Lego ship. It is your decision to layer the ship with more than one color, or not. You can create a pattern, spell a word, or simply keep your base entirely black. Whatever you come up with, try to keep your base the height of about four Lego blocks, excluding your base strip. After you finish creating your base, attach the base strip to the bottom to serve as a sturdy stand. Introduce color to your Lego aircraft carrier if you have not already. Whether the platform of your aircraft carrier is two or three Lego stacks high, extend each layer of the platform. Once you create your first layer that sits on top of the base, create the next layer a half of a Lego wider.
The more layers that your aircraft carrier platform has, the wider the platform is. If your aircraft reaches a point where it is disproportionate, feel free to add or eliminate layers to your liking. On the platform of the aircraft carrier you find shipment boxes, workers, missiles, and even aircrafts. This is the part where you can get creative, designing different areas of the platform of your carrier as you wish. To build a mast, simply stack small Legos to a proportionally appropriate height in the center of the platform, and decorate the tip with a flag or icon of your choice.
