Our Zen platform bed is a perfect example of this trend. We utilize key design elements and decorative joinery to give the Zen a spare sophistication. Designed to use only a mattress (no box-spring), it is entirely handcrafted from oversized solid lumber stock which we cut and kiln dry ourselves. The Zen's exposed joinery allows for movement of the wood which naturally occurs with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity. The deep, rich espresso finish is applied in layers and hand rubbed to accentuate the natural wood grain. Other Japanese inspired platform bed styles in our collection include the Alden, Solide, Cherry Platform and other contemporary styles such as the Monterrey all of which reflect the best in contemporary international design.

Platform Beds - Our Contemporary Bedroom Set This line of contemporary furniture is manufactured for us in Portugal. Our Contempo bed frame is available in Queen size, in either Wengé (a brown/black color) or Cherry finish. The Wengé (pronounced "when-gay") is made from genuine American Beech wood and then stained its deep wengé color. This veneer is then laminated to dense fiberboard. The Cherry finish, as you can see in the picture, is very similar to a natural finish, but with a hint of cherry added to it. It is made from genuine American Cherry wood. This veneer is then laminated to a dense fiberboard. This collection lives up to its photo in every way! PLEASE NOTE: Assembly is required. For customers living in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City and surrounding areas, assembly may be available. Also, this bed is shipped on a pallet to the curbside of your apartment building/lobby or house. The boxes are heavy and require two people to safely move them. (A $20 bill will most likely sweet talk the driver to help you carry them inside, or have a friend handy when the delivery shows up.)
The night stands attached at the bed's sides are sold separately. The night stands in the top picture don't have drawers, but a night stand with drawer is available ... see image at right. The night stands without drawers can only be used with the Contempo bed, while the night stands with drawers can be used with any other bed. The Show Mirror accents this set perfectly. The leaning Texas Mirrors, like everything in Texas, are big. Lean them against the wall in your foyer or bedroom (these are not free-standing mirrors).
