Please share your knowledge! Premier Inns are nicer ,Travelodges are fairly basic, but if you get a good deal, Travelodges are acceptable. On average the quality of Premier Inns tends to be better than Travelodge. The beds are more comfortable with better mattresses.
We always try and get a Premier Inn if possible, Premier Inns tend to have the reputation of being fairly uniform so you know what you're going to get whereas Travelodge's repuation can vary depending on whether it's a new or old hotel although they are refurbishing their rooms nationally. Try looking at reviews for both for particular locations you're thinking of choosing. I have slept well in both chains, even in one of Travelodge's dated hotels. Travelodge is more basic for example in terms of toiletries they ony provide a tiny bar of soap whereas Premier Inn bathrooms at least have a shower gel dispenser. Premier Inn's are basic hotels. Travelodges are even more basic. Travelodge will not let you check in advance of their check in time, even if your room is ready. Travelodge will not store your luggage prior to check in time or after check out time. Travelodge provide no toiletries, except one tiny bar of hand soap. Premier Inn provide a dispenser of "Cussons hair and body wash". All Premier Inns have an on site or adjacent bar and restaurant. Travelodges do not guarantee this. I've never stayed in a Premier Inn that didn't have a bath (with shower over). I've never stayed in a Travelodge that did have a bath. Premier inns are really predictable in terms of quality. Usually good sized rooms, friendly staff, high level of cleanliness. Travelodges can be very patchy. I've encountered surly, unhelpful staff; running out of toilet paper... I could go on.
