Besides its a small studio apartment, smaller even than the one we had in the city in San Francisco.That didn’t last long. We took to taking the mattresses off both sofa beds and putting them on the floor. Even that’s not a comfortable experience. Yet we didn’t want to buy a bed, as it would take up a lot of the space in the apartment.Even further back in the mists of time on a ski touring trip around Western Canada, while staying at Sun Peaks resort, we stayed in a studio apartment on the mountain. It took us 10 minutes of “WTF, where’s the bed?” to realize where it was and to discover the wonderful world of murphy or wall beds.
When the reality of staying here for a while came to fruition, it was a no brainer, we wanted a wall bed. Enquiries in Bulgaria came to naught. Circumnavigating the M25 in the UK, following Internet research led us to Wall Bed King – who will deliver the bed mechanism anywhere in Europe for £39. Bargain.We tracked our bed as it found it’s way across Europe, via TNT: Nuremberg, Vienna, somewhere in deepest Romania, Sofia – hurray! almost here… then inexplicably, Plovdiv. But arrive she did. Several days after we’d bought a mattress and been sleeping in relative comfort.Borrowing tools from the team at Bamro, a few false starts (boy some of those bits fit together VERY tightly! – and the instructions could give IKEA a run for their money..) – and we have a bed.A bed a night, and a view of bed slats during the day.
