The machine did a workmanlike job, and we liked its intuitive controls. We did have complaints, though. It was the easiest attachment system we tried. We used the 60-in. finish mower powered by a 13-hp Briggs & Stratton engine. With its diesel power and locking rear differential it had enough power to haul that crew through all but the soggiest bog. For large loads, the rear seat folds forward and the bed wall hinges to the side, doubling the bed's volume. We made that versatility-boosting swap in 3 minutes, without using tools. With the extra bed space, we loaded the Mule generously with hay, tools, wood and woodcutting gear.
Putting It to Use: Get the optional hydraulic lift. They make the Kubota a great choice for maintaining riding trails, orchards and tree farms.Putting It to Use: Kubota's hydrostatic transmission provides automatic braking--but learn to feather the accelerator.
