We want it now! Mania would fill it with her yarns and tools such as crochet hooks and knitting needles, straight away. Even though it is quite an advanced project, perfect for a person who is highly skilled in woodwork, Darko K, who entered with this DIY for the first time on Instructables, managed to complete it with easy and extraordinary, final style! We admire people who do not grumble when see beautiful objects being too expensive for them to buy. Instead, they take the matters into their hands and create. Such a wonderful work Darko! As he writes, he made it as a gift for his wife, and his mother in law helped him finish the cushions what made the chair even more unique.

The probable inspiration for this Bookshelf Chair was La Bibliochaise designed by nobody&co, which goes together with a footrest. Darko's chair is not far away from the original but has something that cannot be gained in the factory - the heart and a personal (little) imperfections which only real DIY's can have! If you try to recreate his project, you'll be provided with full step by step instructions as well as detailed photos. La Bibliochaise designed by nobody&co. OpenBook armchair, created by British design studio Tilt.Show All ItemsHello everyone, my name is Darko and this in my first Instructables.Task to build bookshelf chair aka ”biblio-chaise” that can hold as many as 18 feet of books. This chair is made by Giovanni Gennari and Alisée Matta of nobody&co http://www.nobodyandco.it/project/bibliochaise/ I thought it would be great DIY build for the fraction of the cost. This is also present to my wife.Since actual sizes were not available online, I came up with my own by ensuring that the final project would fit through normal door opening. Bookshelf Chair final measurements are 41.5" wide by 34.5" long and 29" tall.Step 1: Materials:Show All Items2 sheets of 3/4 plywood boards that come in 4 X 8 ( bought more expensive plywood for around $40 per sheet)6 X 8ft of 2 x1 inch pine strips4 x 8ft of 2 x 2 inch pine2 boxes of 1 1/4" Kreg pocket screws1 bottle Gorilla wood glue« PreviousNext »View All Steps Download

If that describes you, this has to be the perfect chair (well almost, since there’s nowhere to sit your coffee cup)! Indulge yourself by reading for an entire day, sitting on a pile of books! All you need is a slave (or willing family member) to bring you food and drink as demanded 🙂 This particular bookshelf chair or biblio-chaise was built by a DIY-er for his wife. We think she’s a happy girl after getting this gift! Though it looks big and wide in the photos, this furniture item actually fits through a standard door opening. In fact, it’s about the same size as a regular single seat sofa. But since this chair is also a bookshelf, it’s got to be a real winner as great space-saving furniture. P

erfect for those running out of shelf space! Click on any image to start lightbox display. Use your Esc key to close the lightbox. You can also view the images as a slideshow if you prefer 😎 What we love even more about this DIY project is that it’s easy to build. Read more below to see how We’ve had numerous requests for plans for this chair but it is very dependent on personal taste and timber size availablityThis can obviously be adjusted to body size but in this instance, the dimensions of the seating area are Length 28″ 3/8 x Width 25″ 7/8 x Deep 15″ 5/8. I started by creating a base that is cut out of 4×8 sheet of plywood and built sides by using 2 x 2-inch pine. Sides are 29″ tall. In between 2 x 2’s I used 2 x 1-inch pieces of pine. To secure 2 x 2 and 2 x 1 pieces to plywood platform, I used Gorilla glue and Kreg pocket screws. Then I used more 2 x 1-inch pine to create support for a first story piece of plywood and secured it with pocket screws and wood glue.
