At this point I believe I can say I have read all of the Choose Your Own Adventure books from the original series. After splurges in the 80s and the 90s and now just recently I am going to count the series completed on being read.I was a big fan of the books when I was young but they either dont stand the test of time or I matured enough in a proper enough way to find them shallow and silly. Yet the completist in me insists that I finish what I started, no matter how rewarding or tiring it may become. The Choose Your Own Adventure books really did help youth in its heyday to get introduced to reading and in that regard they are a good thing. They arent the 80s equivalent to Harry Potter but they are at least a small start to get interested in reading. The choice options, the main gimmick in this series really is inventive however the choices you are given dont necessarily make you a better decision maker through reading and learning. The choice concepts are just for fun.The only realistic thing is that sometimes the reactions to your choices can give unforseen reactions.Most of the stories arent memorable which gives me a bit of cloudiness as to whether I read all the books but I remember that what I said was that I only had a handful left and they were in my home collection. The reason why I chose to write a review for The Curse of Batterslea Hall was that it was my first book in the series that I owned and I like ghost and witch stories.I have had hit and miss experiences with the author and his other works but this one seems to be more solid in story compared to his other contributions. So dont take the book series too seriously (like I sometimes do) and relax and have fun with it. There are a great deal of different concepts and scenarios in the series so there are plenty of choices as to what stories you may enjoy the most.
