اقدم لك هي سلسلة من الكتب التعريفية بمواد وإختصاصات أكاديمية مختلفة ومتنوعة . ما يميز هذه السلسة التعريفية عن غيرها، هو سهولة إسلوب الطرح وإستخدام الرسومات والكوميكس لجعل قراءة موضوع أكاديمي - من المفترض أن يكون - معقدا، قراءة ممتعة وسهلة. وهي فكرة جيدة من وجهة نظري، شجعتني على البدء في السلسلة. فقررت البدء بموضوع لدي علم مسبق عنه وهو النظرية النقدية.بوجه عام استمتع بالكوميكس التوضيحية للأفكار الفلسفية وأراها وسيلة ذكية لتوصيل فكرة معقدة.. حتى أثناء دراستي لأي فكرة فلسفية أول ما ابحث عنه هو كوميكس ورسومات توضيحية، لمحاولة فهم النظرية بوجه عام مبدأيا قبل الشروع في قراءتها ودراستها.. وكنت آمل أن توظف الرسومات لهذا الغرض في الكتاب، لكن وجدت أن قليل من الرسومات تساعد فعليا على تبسيط المعلومة والكثير منها كان عبارة عن رسومات لوجه أشخاص يخرج من أفواههم غيمة بها المزيد من الكتابة.. نفس الرسومات التي كنت أجدها في كتاب اللغة الإنجليزية في المدرسة الإبتدائية وكانت تستفزني للغاية؛ فبمجرد أن أفتح الكتاب وأجدها أمامي، لا يهدأ لي بال حتى أقوم بتشويه وجه الأشخاص بالرسومات، فاقوم برسم ذقن لهذا ورسم نظارة في عين هذه، حتى تختفي ملامحهم كلية.. وهذا النوع من الرسومات لا استفيد منه، بل ويكون مشتت لي في بعض الأحيان. محتوى الكتاب كان - كما هو واضح من العنوان - مقدمة في النظرية النقدية وبسبب قراءتي في الموضوع سابقا، فلم تكن قراءة الكتاب - بالنسبة لي - قراءة مثمرة، كانت بمثابة مراجعة عما أعرفه مسبقا. ولكن إذا كنت شخص لم تقرأ قبل الآن عن النظرية النقدية فغالبا سيكون محتوى الكتاب أكثر إفادة لك.
