The City of Virginia Beach provides all terrain wheelchairs for beach goers with disabilities that are ready to roll on the ocean front for your convenience. You'll find them on the sand in a storage container on 24th and 17th streets at the bottom of the beach ramps. These wheelchairs are free and open to the public, but as there is a limited supply, we ask that you call the phone number on the back of the storage container to reserve the chair for 1/2 day increments, and that you don't travel further than 2 blocks away from the storage container. These chairs are available from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Address: 17th Street on the sand24th Street on the sandVirginia Beach, VA 23451What a great time fort the beach. Spring and fall are our very favorite times there. It has a great variety of food and lots of it and can get crowded during peak meal times. There's a haagen daz at 3300 - /tidewater%20title.html Go back to the main URL for all kinds of other ideas that might apply. Virginia Beach is the largest city in Virginia...but you don't notice any of the buildings and bustle of city life from the football field deep beach. The boardwalk is 3 miles long. VB is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the World's Longest Pleasure Beach. You will see the Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum in the historic DeWitt Cottage at 11th, one of the oldest on the oceanfront; the Virginia Legends Walk at 13th off the Boardwalk; honoring Virginians who have made important national and world contributions in their lives; The Fishing Pier at 15th and the boardwalk' The Old Coast Guard Station at 24th and the Boardwalk in the historic 1903 Life Saving Station cottage. The Naval Aviation Monument is at 25th and the Boardwalk. This is something we finally got to really look at recently.

It is actually many bronze sculptures paying tribute to Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard from the early 1900s to the present. There are laser-etched granite storyboards since this is outdoors so you know what you're looking at. The sculptures are of people in outfits from the period...real people...depicting significant events in history. Neptune's Park, adjacent to the Hilton, has entertainment...many nights in the summer...maybe weekends in May. Right beside the boardwalk. Stages for outdoor entertainment are at 7th, 17th (a park actually), 24th and 31st. There may be something going on especially on weekends in May. If you'll be in VB for Memorial Weekend you can enjoy Remember the Music-Remember the Heroes. The event features special performances at the stages along the boardwalk on all of the three days. Artilane, you might also look at the things to do section including the travel articles. Within the Family Travel section are a lot of things that are open in May as well.

Also remember the lotion! Light boardwalk and sand and ocean all reflect the sun and in May even with some cloud cover you can burn....or tan nicely with lotion. Also feel empowered by that word search feature. The little empty box on top of these posts. Just type in whatever you'd like to know for still more info. What else can we tell you?
