Mom in wheelchair forces school lock down BRIDGEPORT - A woman in a wheelchair caused a lock down at Bassick High School after she began firing off pepper spray at students. Police said about a dozen students were treated for the sprays effects following the incident Tuesday afternoon. Yvonne Young, 50, of Lenox Avenue, was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, interfering with police, third-degree assault and risk of injury to children. She was later released after posting $25,000 bond. Officers were called to Bassick High School shortly after noon and the school was put in lock down. When officers arrived there were a number of students being treated in the nurse’s office for the effects of pepper spray, police said. Police said Young, who has one leg and uses a wheelchair, had come to school to speak to the principal about her daughter being bullied. At some point Young made her way to the third floor where a fight broke out among students, police said.
