You should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to concert start time to allow time for parking and entering the hall. BNY Mellon Grand Classics patrons may want to enjoy concert preludes, which begin one hour prior to the concert, workshops and other and other Explore and Engage pre-concert activities. What should I wear to concerts? There is no official dress code for events in Heinz Hall. Many patrons wear business attire, and many prefer to be more casual. Wear whatever makes you feel more comfortable. May I bring my children?

Introducing small children to music is important to the PSO and we welcome young children to our youth concerts and Fiddlesticks Family Concerts. Children, approximately age six and over, are welcome at all performances with a purchased ticket. The Latecomer's Gallery and lobby video monitors are always options for restless children. When should I applaud? Applause is usually appropriate at the end of a piece (when the conductor lowers his hands). In a multi-movement work, it is customary to wait until the end of the last movement to applaud, so as not to break the concentration of the performers. What if I have to cough? The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra provides complimentary cough drops at the concierge desk located in the entrance lobby. May I take pictures? Generally, the use of still, video and digital cameras or audio recording equipment is strictly prohibited in the concert hall. Exceptions to this policy will be announced via the pre-concert announcements or hall message screens at applicable concerts.

You are more than welcome to take photos and video in the lobbies and garden area of Heinz Hall. How will I find parking? Pittsburgh's Cultural District can be very busy but guaranteed prepaid parking is available to all ticket holders in the Sixth & Penn garage across from Heinz Hall. You may purchase prepaid parking when you order your tickets. If you have a smartphone, the ParkPGH app helps you to locate available garage parking near the Cultural District on the go. What if I arrive late? There is a Latecomer’s Gallery, located behind the Main Floor, which affords patrons who arrive after the beginning of a concert the opportunity to enjoy the performance until they can be seated. Latecomers will be seated at suitable intervals during the program, at the discretion of the conductor. The Latecomer’s Gallery is also available for parents with younger children. How do I make dinner reservations for the Mozart Room? The Mozart Room, operated by The Common Plea, offers exquisite cuisine in an exclusive setting.

Online reservation, menus and other information can be found here. What accessible services are available at Heinz Hall? The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Heinz Hall are committed to providing an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all patrons. For information about our accessible services, please contact the box office at 412.392.4900 or visit our Accessibility page. Does Heinz Hall offer Hearing Assistive Devices? Heinz Hall provides an induction loop, The Dauler Hearing Loop, that can be used with most hearing aids via telecoil settings. Sound heard through telecoils can vary from hearing aid to hearing aid and can also vary according to position in the theatre. Hearing aids typically pick up the best signal when patrons position themselves in a centralized area within a section of rows. The signal will drop in aisles and landings. The best sound is achieved when seated and facing toward the stage. Please contact the Box Office for assistance in purchasing seats in the appropriate sections.

To use the hearing loop at Heinz Hall, users of hearing aids and cochlear implants with a telecoil (t-coil) need to make sure their t-coil is activated and properly set by their audiologist. Users can then activate the setting once in Heinz Hall. If any users are not sure if their hearing aid has a t-coil or if they experience difficulty and require assistance, they should contact their audiologist. In addition to the hearing loop system, Heinz Hall now offers three portable t-coil devices that can be worn around the neck by patrons with t-coil enabled hearing assistance devices to pick up the signal from the hearing loop system, allowing them to sit in the sections of the hall outside of the installed coverage area (the orchestra pit, first four rows and Grand Box left). The hall will continue to offer 60 FM hearing assistance devices with earphones for others without t-coil enabled hearing aids. All hearing assistance devices are on a first-come, first-served basis. The hearing loop at Heinz Hall was a gift from Randi & L. Van V. Dauler, Jr. and the Emma Clyde Hodge Memorial Fund.

Are refreshments available at Heinz Hall? Refreshment bars are located in the Garden and Overlook rooms and in the Grand Tier Lounge. Additional bars may be added for certain special events. In general, drinks are allowed in the concert hall at most Heinz Hall concerts when a "sippy" cup is purchased at the bars. (If you are unsure, just ask an usher or bartender!) Drinks are not allowed in the theater at any classical concert. You can also "pre-order" your drink for intermission. Just order and pre-pay for the drink at the bar of your choice before going into the concert. The bartender will let you know where you can find your drink at intermission. Water cups are available in the restrooms and from any bartender. Where are restrooms located in Heinz Hall? To make a tax-deductible gift to the PSO, contact our Development department at 412.392.4880 or donate online! Are there any other services that I should be aware of? The Concierge Service, in the Entrance Lobby, is available to assist with information about Heinz Hall, the Cultural District and area attractions and to help with dining, hotel, entertainment and transportation concerns as well as lost and found. Can I organize a group for a concert? With a group ticket purchase you receive discounted tickets, priority seats, personalized service and free reception space.

Do you have a pre-concert "rush" program? Beginning two hours prior to most BNY Mellon Grand Classics and PNC Pops performances, students and seniors (age 62+) may purchase discounted rush tickets. Rush tickets are subject to availability and are restricted to certain seating sections. Students and seniors must present valid identification and may purchase one discounted ticket per person. Please note that rush pricing is subject to change. In order to guarantee seating availability, we suggest purchasing tickets prior to the day of the concert you wish to attend. Please note that the PSO offers discounted student and senior subscriptions, which offer the best savings as well as exclusive benefits.
