There are new vans in the market, however, that offer a safe, painless and convenient alternative.

These “wheelchair vans” are equipped with a hydraulic wheelchair lift that allows PWDs to enter through the van backdoor, without having to leave the comfort of their wheelchair.  These vans are also equipped with safety restraints, which lock the wheelchair in place as the vehicle is moving.  With these improvements, traveling is no longer a dreaded activity for the handicapped. Lifelifters Transport is the first van rental service in the Philippines to offer these wheelchair vans.  Aiming to help the elderly and disabled travel free from limitations, pain and inconvenience, Lifelifters is also an advocacy-driven company.  /), an NGO that works with Christian churches in order to serve people with disabilities. Through Lifelifters, traveling is now easy and convenient for PWDs.  To know more about their wheelchair vans, you can contact them at the following numbers: Tel No: 438-3520 / 438-3091 Cell No: 0942-811-LIFT (5438) How difficult is it getting around Manila in a wheelchair?

16 February 2015 Last updated at 21:23 GMT Commuting across an Asian megacity like Manila is challenging at the best of times. For example there are often no proper pavements or bus stops. But for those using wheelchairs, getting from A to B in a city with next to no transport facilities for those living with disabilities is nearly impossible. One Manila resident, Abner Manlapaz is on a mission to change that. The Celadon Park rises here and it is a Mediterranean inspired community touted to change Manila's style of living. With this kind of sanctuary, Manila will never be the same again for the urban dwellers of the new generation. The Celadon Park is a high-rise residential development innovated by the country's premium property developer, Alveo Land.

The project is located along Felix Huertas St., Sta. Cruz, Manila, right beside the district of Quaipo and other adjoining districts of Manila including Sampaloc and Binondo and near Quezon City and Caloocan City. This part of Manila is a well-known university belt, business and commercial center where the big part is residential in which most professionals, businessmen, office workers, students and transients mostly reside. The area is also home to Manila's historical places and cultural sites, such as Santa Cruz Parish Church, the Arguelles Building and Dr. Jose Fabella Hospital. The project is comprised of 3 high-rise residential towers standing right at the center of one of Manila's oldest districts. The sight here is like going back in time, when Manila was the second most prosperous city in Asia, next to Tokyo, Japan. The local landscape and the way of life is slowly becoming what it was during the early 20th century Manila but in modernity. Each tower is made up of 37 residential floors, offering a total 806 residential units.

As the streets of Manila are highly dense, this condo project boasts of the lowest density in the area, with lots of landscaped gardens that mimics nature. Unit sizes range from a spacious 23 to 70sqm of floor area. The units are classified as Studio, 1-BR and 2-BR residential units that come with provisions for living, dining and kitchen spaces. There are 1-2 T&B depending on model unit; with provision for balcony, utility room, and study area, master's bedroom and family hall for selected units. The project is fully guarded 24/7 with guards and receptionist stationed at the grand lobby, ready to serve you anytime of the day. Each unit is equipped with automatic fire alarm and smoke detectors and sprinkler system, with individual water and electric meters and so much more! The amenities and features are simply brilliant and diverse, the likes of lap pool (25 meters long), wading pool, lounge, commercial shops at the ground, clubhouse, gym and fitness center, function room, children's playground, basketball court, children's activity area and exercise lawn.

Sta. Cruz area is also a known university belt that is why several schools are operating in or near the area, the likes of Technological Institute of the Philippines, Mapua Institute of Technology, De La Salle University Taft, University of Santo Tomas, Chiang Kai Shek School, De La Salle- College of St. Benilde, Aguinaldo International School, St. Scholastica's College, Araullo High School, UP Manila, Adamson University and Manila Science High School, just to name a few. Numerous commercial, shopping centers and other points of interest that could be found within the site's immediate vicinity are SM City Manila, SM City San Lazaro, Robinson's Mall, Isetan Department Store, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden and Rizal Park (Luneta).
