Does the matt have to be stored? This mat can not be left under the mattress when sleeper is folded up, you must remove it. That being said, you can fold it up and place it under the cushions or under the sleeper when not in use. How many do I need to fit my queen size sleep sofa it definitely does not cover the whole mattress...we have it centered and there are about 8" on the left and right side that are not covered. It does about 2/3 down the length of the bed. we actually have two of these, but there is no way to put two of them on the bed without their overlapping, and I was afraid an overlap would cause a further problem, so I have two, one on top of the other, for added bar protection.
