It’s fabulous: an art deco hotel on the seafront, lovingly restored and restyled with so much character, and a superb wedding venue. I was there for the very first time only a month or so ago but the hotel has featured on the English Wedding Blog many times… And so today I’m over the moon to have a fabulous wedding from the Midland Hotel to share with you. The details are classy and understated: flowers are white; stationery is stylish with a dash of art deco, and our brides are absolutely gorgeous!
Amy and Krysta found their suppliers online, at wedding fairs and through recommendations from the venue. They loved their bridal boutique in Preston for the super helpful advice they received – and for being able to choose dresses which worked well together even though they couldn’t see each other’s until the wedding day! Life just got a whole lot better!!!!” We found Lisa at a wedding fayre, we adored her previous work and loved that she wasn’t in anyway pushy or cocky. From our first chat we felt like Lisa understood us as a couple, and although she deals with loads of people week in week out everything felt very personal to us. We were completely overwhelmed with emotion when Lisa sent us a preview of our photos while we were on our honeymoon, we couldn’t wait to share them with our friends and family who thought they were equally as amazing as we did. Although the chair covers were not a necessity they completely transformed the room. We are very pleased we opted for a photographer and videographer, Krysta originally had doubts due to cost but we have now have the most amazing, priceless memories. Our Save the Dates and invites were from www.zazzle.co.uk- a website which allows you to custom- make just about anything at an affordable price. Our place cards were supplied by the hotel. Krysta typically fell in love with the first dress she laid eyes on- anything for an easy life. I however visited several different shops trying a variety of styles before settling on ‘the one’. Mori Lee A-line gown and Ronald Joyce fishtail style gown, both from Dan Kerr Brides in Preston who were absolutely amazing at helping us to pick coordinating gowns that suited both our styles without us seeing each others choices until the big day. Krysta wore a pearl and diamante headband with a vintage pearl bracelet and earrings, all purchased from The National Wedding Show.
I wore a pearl and diamante hair comb from online boutique Queenie and Lily, Diamond earrings from Ernest Jones which were a wedding present from Krysta and my late Nana’s ring which was my something borrowed. Our adult bridesmaids wore one shoulder dresses with bead detail on the waistband from Monsoon. Our Flowergirls both wore white dresses with silver detail from BHS. Our make up artist was Joanna Needham of JoCoole Make up- Jo made up our adult bridesmaids, our mums and both of us. We’re lucky enough to have a good friend, Kerry Shuttleworth who is a fab hairdresser, she styled the adult bridesmaids and both of us Our bridal bouquets were arranged by Abi’s Arrangements and were a beautiful mix of white hydrangeas and white roses, our bridesmaids and flower girls held bouquets of white hydrangeas and our female and male wedding party corsages were single white roses with a hint of foliage. The Midland has its own unique character with a stunning backdrop whilst at the same time allowing us to inject our own stamp with vases and tea light holders to complement our styling and hessian runners which matched the sashes provided by the chair cover suppliers.
Lights- Supplied by Typical Type, we chose the word DANCE which became the backdrop for our band and dance floor. We bought a personalised stamp bearing our initials and wedding date, this was used to personalise gift tags on our favours and Claire Amos used the stamp to personalise our sweet bags for the sweet table. It was also used to stamp the back of our invitation along with a heart made from our fingerprints. The children that attended the wedding were kept entertained with a bag each full of hand picked games and goodies. We chose a 3 tier white rose wedding cake from Marks and Spencer which suited our theme beautifully. It was easy to order and collect and a lot more reasonably priced than the quotes we had from independent shops. Music provided by Blank Cheque, a band we saw on a night out in Manchester. They were absolutely amazing and so many guests have commented on how fab they were. They sang loads of fantastic covers of songs, dj’ing in between. They managed to get even the most dance floor shy out of their seats.
Honestly couldn’t recommend them highly enough! Ice Cream Cart- supplied by Love My Trike, friendly staff and a great ice cream selection. Sweet Table- supplied by Claire Amos. A brilliant selection of sweet treats which kept everyone very happy, all on a table which was decorated to beautifully and fitted into our theme perfectly. Caricaturist- Mike C from Warble Entertainment- This provided fab entertainment in-between the wedding breakfast and the the evening do. Mike drew some very realistic looking caricatures with a fun comedic twist. Although the wedding day can be quite stressful, try your best to relax and enjoy the moment and don’t drink too much, nothing is less classy than a drunken bride and nobody wants to have memory loss of the day they have waited a lifetime for. Despite being told numerous times that being married feels no different, we feel completely different. We are extremely content and and feel overwhelmingly protected and loved by each other after undertaking the biggest commitment we could possibly take with each other.
