All blocks are saved in AutoCAD 2000 format and have been carefully screened for the educational stamp. In this lesson you will create a number of furniture blocks in preparation for

planning the eventual arrangement in an office space. Open the Furniture 1 project file to begin. Zoom in on this sofa, and as you move the cursor over the objects you see them highlight indivicually Indicating that they're made of arcs and lines. By unifying this geometry in a block, it makes it much easier to manage in aI'll make an enclosing window to select all of the items that make up that sofa, then click, Create Block, type the name Sofa. Pick a base point by snapping right here. I'll choose to delete the objects and we don't need to open it in the Block Editor, so I'll leave this unchecked, okay. Now I'll go up to the Layers drop down and select the A Fern Layer. And then, insert the block, so far, I don't need to soecify the rotation but I will specify the insertion point, right here. Now let's create block for the remaining objects, I'll just go ahead and select. These entities, click create block and type arm chair.

Pick a base point, right here, and this time let's convert directly to the block, okay. That saved us a step, we didn't have to insert the block after we created it. I'll select these objects, type B space bar, type chair. Pick a point, right here, and then Okay. Down here, let's do that again. Select, B, Spacebar, Stool. Pick a point, and for this one, I'm going to track using the midpoints to find the center of the object. If I click on it, you'll see its grip appear right in the middle, where I specified the base point.Select all of this geometry. This is an easel, pick a point, right here.Again, select B, Spacebar, Workstation. Pick its insertion point down here, okay. This is a conference table. B enter, conference table. Pick a point, right at the centre. This is a desk. I'll click on it to select it, B+Enter, Desk, pick its insertion point, right there, convert to block. This is a cafe table, and I need to pick its insertion point at the center.

And this particular one doesn't show a preview, so I need to select the object, Enter, convert to block. I'll preselct this one, press B+Enter. And now we see the preview. So you don't have to select objects here. We do need to type in the name which isPick a point at the center and then okay. Now up here, these objects are going to go on a different layer. So, I'm going to change the current layer to A Furniture System. I'll select this low height partition. Create it as a block and call it what it is, low height partition. Pick a point for that, perhaps it will be right here in the corner. And then, okay, it appears on the current layer. Again, select these objects, create it as a block. And let's call this one Space Divider. Pick a point for that, maybe this would be over here in the corner, and then Okay. Finally save your work as Furniture Two. You have gained experience creating blocks and have inserted them on specific furniture layers.
