Le fruit de ce travail est le Plywood Group dont l’assise, le dossier et le piètement sont en bois lamellé collé moulé. La DCW (Dining Chair Wood), éditée par Vitra, se caractérise par des lignes organiques et la confortable chaleur du bois, qui invite à adopter une position décontractée. Elle se décline en frêne naturel ou frêne noir et existe également dans une version lounge (la LCW) avec une assise plus basse. Through masterful proportioning and planning, Mies created a rhythmic and entirely unprecedented space, which elevated industrial-age materials to a level of grace never before achieved. Inside, Mies included chairs and stools conceived as a resting place for the King and Queen of Spain. Determined to create a chair worthy of royalty, Mies is thought to have based the designs, with their signature crisscross frames, on the campaign chairs of Ancient Rome. Mies: “I feel that it must be possible to harmonize the old and new in our civilization.”
Although the Barcelona Pavilion only stood for seven months, it is recognized as a defining achievement of modern architecture, as are the accompanying Barcelona Chairs (although the King and Queen reportedly never sat in them). Mies, a close friend and mentor to Florence Knoll during her time at the Illinois Institute of Technology, formally granted Knoll the production rights to the Barcelona Chair and Stool in 1953. The designs immediately became a signature of the Knoll brand and have been built to Mies van der Rohe’s exacting standards ever since. Lounge Chair & Ottoman Vitra 4 750,00 € tasse incl. 3 - 4 SETTIMANE La Lounge Chair è senza dubbio il progetto più famoso di Charles e Ray Eames. Creata nel 1956 e prodotta da Vitra, è ormai un classico nella storia del mobile moderno. Non solo una poltrona, ma un pezzo di cultura americana, incarna alla perfezione l’immagine di fiducioso ottimismo degli American Fifty. Vera e propria icona di stile, combina in maniera ideale raffinato design, massimo comfort e alta qualità di materiali e lavorazioni. Ispirato alla tradizionale sedia da club inglese, l'aspetto originale della Lounge Chair è definito da imbottiture di pelle nera abbinate a una scocca in legno scuro, su base a stella realizzata in alluminio. Nel rispetto del design più autentico degli Eames, è ora disponibile una versione che consente il massimo comfort per le persone alte, leggermente ritoccata nelle misure, e una sofisticata edizione White in pelle bianca, alluminio lucido e radica di noce, che si inserisce armoniosamente negli interni più chiari delle case contemporanee.
Tre i basamenti disponibili: cromato, lucido e lucido/fianchi neri. Tre le finiture di legno per la scocca: palissandro, noce pigmentato nero e ciliegio. Rivestita in pelle, due sono le tipologie disponibili, entrambe con le stesse colorazioni: neve, marrone, nero e cioccolato. Le due tipologie differiscono solo per la tramatura della pelle, una più liscia (pelle Premium) e una più grossolana (Pelle Grand). Le pelli hanno lo stesso costo, la scelta di un tipo o l'altro non incide sul prezzo.
