Whether your summer involves several beach getaways or just Saturdays in Central Park, it's important to have a proper bathing suit selection in rotation. Below, we've rounded up 20 of the best places to shop for swimsuits in New York City, ranging from lingerie boutiques that use your bra measurements to find the best fit to surf shops that stock rash guards next to their boards.

Check out our handy map after the jump with shops organized from north to south and dream of the sunnier days to come (don't forget to buy sunscreen, too!) The Hawaiian brand arrived on Madison Avenue just a few months after Everything But Water, seriously bolstering the shopping district's swimwear scene. Consider wearing their tiny two pieces in places warmer than Antarctica—that's where Kate Upton wore hers for that Sports Illustrated cover. 2 Everything But Water While this store is fairly ubiquitous in the mall scene, it only arrived in the city last spring, just in time for swimsuit shopping. They carry teeny two pieces and gorgeous one-pieces from Mara Hoffman, Vitamin A, Trina Turk, and several other top-of-the-line brands, including some exclusive styles. Don't forget to set up a fit consultation with one of their pros. [Photo] This French luxury brand is known for preppy, brightly patterned men's trunks—almost like a Lilly Pulitzer for guys. Styles are available for both men and kids as young as six months old.

They also recently added their women's collection to the store as well. 4 Calypso St Barth It doesn't get much beachier than Calypso St. Barth, where elegant caftans hang alongside pastel printed bikinis from the house line, as well as options from Osklen, Marika Charles, Adriana Degreas, and more. Prices run a little high, so consider these two-pieces your splurge pieces. This West Coast transplant is dedicated entirely to designer swimwear, which includes Lenny Niemeyer and Zimmermann. The company's motto is “We suit every body,” and it prides itself on customer service. You can also find your entire beach outfit here with a great selection of hats, sarongs, Havaianas, and totes. 6 INTIMACY {bra fit stylists} Trust a bra specialist first with your measurements, and then with figuring what swimsuit will best flatter your curves. The chain, which also has a location Madison and one opening south of the Flatiron building later this year, carries several of the top brands.

If you want a comprehensive swimwear collection, Pesca Boutique should be your first stop. Labels range from Cosabella Mare to Trina Turk, and though you probably have summer on the brain, their spring break sale is still going strong on their website. Among the many things the designer is known for is her range of swimwear, which includes vintage-style one-pieces and bikinis with creative tops and skirt-style bottoms. You'll probably spend more than you usually spend on bathing suits here, but can you really put a price on the creativity going on here? 9 Linda's Bra Salon Underthings guru Linda Becker and her "Bra Divas" (sales associates) apply the same technique for bra fittings to swimsuit styling. Find pieces that will fit every body type from brands like Curvy Kate, Karla Colletto, and Panache. This Chelsea shop specializes in guys' trunks ranging in price from $50 to $150 and in inseam length from two inches to 12. Want to show a bit more leg? They also do briefs.

The brand opened this flagship location in March, and that includes a section dedicated to men's swim trunks in varying lengths starting at $65, as well as beach-friendly tanks and shorts. [Photo by Marko Kalfa] The store's opening was delayed for nearly a year, but the surf-themed shop debuted in September to the delight of city surfers. Along with the boards, find a selection of suits for both men and women that include wetsuits and the increasingly trendy rash guards. Because swimwear is just a publicly acceptable version of what you wear under your clothes, this lingerie shop also stocks a healthy variety of swimwear from labels like Eberjey, Splendid, and hipster beach queen Malia Mills. The brand hails from Brazil, so you know they do swimwear well. They've got stereotypically skimpy two-pieces for the ladies and trunks for guys that stop above the knee, plus a bunch of other great beach-worthy pieces like a shirtdress with an illustration of a toucan. The Australian label that also does ready-to-wear moved into a bigger space just down the street from their original store last fall, which allows them to carry their swimwear line year-round.

While the suits are exquisite, expect to pay Soho prices at this Soho boutique. The focus is on fit at this miniature swimwear empire, which has other locations on some of the city's biggest shopping avenues: Madison, Lexington, Columbus, and Atlantic. USA-produced bikinis and one-pieces are organized by bra size, and the company uses real girls, not models, in their product photos. Between the coffee bar up front and the patio out back, Saturdays is best known for its atmosphere. But don't overlook the stock of swim trunks for guys, which come in classic patterns and flattering cuts. Make your way through the Longchamp bags and Wolford hosiery to find bathing suits from Mara Hoffman, Zimmermann, and La Perla, as well as cover-ups from Theodora and Callum. The boutique also has a Lexington Avenue outpost, as well as two Westchester shops and another in Greenwich. You know the deal by now—if they have good lingerie, it's likely they have good bathing suits, too. Stop in the Williamsburg shop for sexy separates from Norma Kamali, Zinke, and Calla Ossidiana.
