Your Adventure Starts Here.Detroit is becoming more attractive to the sneaker community, and now we have news that we’re about to get our own Nike Store added to the city of Detroit. In a speech to mid-Michigan leaders, Patrick McInnis, CEO of Fathead, says great things are happening in Detroit and there’s more to come, including the arrival of a Nike store. “One of the unique things about this is, we’ve created an economy in Detroit. Now, we have this group that their sole job in life is to go out and recruit companies to come to Detroit,” he said. McInnis said “high-end retail” has come or is coming soon to Detroit, including Moosejaw, Under Armour, designer John Varvatos and Nike. UPDTE: The long-awaited Detroit Nike Store finally opens its doors making it the company’s seventh Nike Community Store. The 22,000 square foot space in the F. W. Woolworth building on Woodward reflects a commitment to serving the community through sports and volunteerism, including hiring city residents.

Check out a few of the images via Philip Lewis during the grand opening that took place today at 10AM EST. UPDATE: Nike reps have been in town a few times in the last year and are getting ready to begin construction on an official Detroit Nike Store. The location will be 1261 Woodward Ave. downtown Detroit. According to the USGBC website, it says the store would be about 19,500 square feet and it was registered for LEED certification in June.
