🔳🗿Ushio Shinohara (born 1932, Tokyo), nicknamed “Gyu-chan”, is a Japanese Neo-Dadaist artist.

He is aligned with Neo-Dada artists like Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg, both in his use of ordinary and found materials and in his performative attitude towards formal decisions.

Shinohara was influenced by Hollywood culture, comic books and the culture of jazz.

He created works of art that were very expressionistic and was very interested in making avant-garde work.

The ‘goal’ of avante-garde artists was to make art that was new and experimental, they had to do with the ‘now’ and reflected art, culture and politics.
