This mini-crib is PERFECT... she's 10 mos old, still PLENTY of room for her to grow. My 18mo old nephew also fits just perfectly (with room to grow).
No need for a standard crib... love this one. It'll be an adorable twin when the time comes. We bought this crib since our son will be sharing our room with us. It is the perfect size, very sturdy, and beautifully made. My husband put it together and says that it didn't take him long at all. The mattress that came with the crib is very thin so we ordered the Davinci Crescent Mini Crib 50 Coil Mattress and it fits like a glove. It is a thicker mattress so be sure to adjust the height of the crib accordingly. We would definitely recommend this crib to others! This crib is perfect for our small apartment bedroom. The crib is very well made and looks amazing. It looks way more expensive than what we paid for it. I love that it matches our furniture too. I bought the suggested crescent mini crib 50 coil mattress and it fits perfectly in the crib. I did a review on this when I first got it almost two years ago, and I need to review it again. We LOVE LOVE LOVE this crib. Our house is small with small rooms, so the size is perfect.
It is sturdy, and I was able to put it together by myself when I was very pregnant. I must say I never had a "mini baby" in it (he was a nice sturdy 8.5 lbs) and now is a sturdy, active 18mo old who still fits in this crib very well...and will for quite some time, hopefully! It has held up to his abuse - kicking his lights and sound machine up and down the main rail, biting the sides when teething, etc...and it still looks great (with bite marks, of course). You DO need the thicker mattress for sure. I'm about to order another mini crib for Baby #2! We live in a condo and have a smaller room for a nursery. The size of this mini crib is just perfect! The installation was straight forward and not too difficult. You may need two people for installation when you set up the mattress board though. Pay close attention to not using a power drill during installation. This crib has 4 height level for the mattress which I think most crib should have but don't quote me on it. It just makes sense to have that option.
The instruction will tell you to install the mattress board at the lowest level which is the opposite of what you want because you don't want to bend down too far to pick up your newborn, so install the board at the highest level. The mattress pad that comes with it is basically a foam mat wrapped with plastic, just bad news all around. Do your baby a favor and buy it a real mattress. Make sure to stick within the measurement when selecting a mattress. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that it does not come with the rails to transform this crib into a bed frame. You will have to pay some $100 in addition for the rails, that is if you decide to turn it into a bed. After a few years, most parents will probably get their 2 year old a theme bed frame anyways. Overall, size was great, look was decent and feel was sturdy.All hardware was enclosed. I had help, but I think I could have done it alone if I had to. We have a small room and so we decided to go for a Mini Crib. The design is good and its very sturdy.
