It marks the first time in 15 years the Michigan-based company decided to build a new store "from the ground up" in Michigan, project manager Lana Vrubel has said.Charles said the design is like no other in Michigan. She said the 71,333-square-foot store is expected to open by November of this year. Officials have said the store is expected to employ about 60 people.Canton Township Supervisor Pat Williams welcomed news that Art Van plans to keep its plans for the Ford Road store."We're glad to hear that through the transition to the new ownership, Art Van will continue to hold to the commitment it made to the Canton community for future development," he said. "We look forward to them coming to the community."The store will be built along Canton's busiest retail corridor. Some residents have voiced concerns about additional traffic but, in a move to address those issues, Art Van plans to design a driveway that lines up with an existing IKEA traffic light, officials have said.The store will include amenities such as Scott Shuptrine Interiors, a Pure Sleep mattress section, Art Van flooring and a clearance center for budget-conscious customers.
