This is so unbelievably tasteless! A mattress store is using the somber anniversary of the 9/11 attacks to have an upbeat ‘Twin Towers’ sale! Their commercial for the event is so mind-blowingly insensitive and disgusting, and now the business is taking a world of heat over it. A Texas mattress store has done the unthinkable, as it was planning using the tragic 9/11 anniversary to have a mega-sale on mattresses, even remaking sick references to the Twin Towers. Miracle Mattress of San Antonio, TX unveiled the ad on their Facebook and received immediate backlash for how horrible and thoughtless is was. “What better way to remember 9/11 than with a Twin Towers sale?” perky owner Cherise Bonanno says into the camera with stacks of twin mattresses and two other upbeat sales clerks behind her. They banter about how all sized mattresses will be on sale for the price of a twin “all day long” on a day where most Americans reflect upon the terrorist attacks that killed almost 3,000 people.
As if that wasn’t enough to make you vomit, the two guys then fall backwards onto the mattress stacks, sickeningly simulating the collapse of the Twin Towers and Cherise smiles at the camera and says “Never Forget,” a phrase everyone uses in memory of the tragic events.It was a stupid idea that we sent out. We apologize for our stupidity and we hope you forgive us for what we’ve done,” Cherise told a local television station reporting on the controversial ad. While the sale appears to still be going on, the store says it will donate 30 percent of all the weekend’s mattress sales to the 9/11 Foundation. One survivor named Maureen wrote, “I worked on the 81st floor of tower 1. I can’t believe you even approved this stupid commercial. You are nothing but scum and I hope your business suffers from your poor judgement!” while another user Gilley reminded her that, “9/11 is not a ‘holiday’ like Labor Day or Memorial Day.
