If you want to stay at a place that's quirky and fun and definitely not your mainstay type hotel then this is it.
My son and I stayed for 2 nights in a room with 2 twin beds and a sink. I would definitely recommend booking a room with a sink. Also, request a room with an open window looking onto Water Street as I did. Some of the rooms have their windows facing into the corridors of the hotel. The beds were really comfortable and although the building isn't insulated against noise, if you wear earplugs which are provided, you won't hear anything. My son and I just travelled with carry on luggage so space wasn't an issue for us; however, if you travel with suitcases, space will be tight for you. The bathrooms and showers are shared, but didn't have to wait and they were very clean. The ceiling fan in our room kept our room very cool. Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz Landing (pier 33) was less than a 10 min walk. The Powell and Mason Streets cable car is just a block away as is the crooked street, Lombard Avenue. I would stay here again on my next visit. Hope this was helpful.
philippeMy family and I, stayed at your hotel from 7/30 to 8/3 in rooms 27, 28 and 70. We had a very nice experience. The location is excellent, near the cable car station and fisherman wharf. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed free coffee, tea, chocolate, water etc... Rooms are small and charming, clean and quiet. Both my wife and I were enthralled with the beauty, warmth and charm of this jewel. Our accommodations were perfect. Everyone we met were friendly and welcoming.
