What to Bring to Campus (or Not) for Living in the Residence Halls All rooms are furnished with extra-long twin bed, desk and chair, dresser, closet, wastepaper baskets for each student and one recycling basket for each room. Space is limited so bring only what is necessary at the beginning of the school year (you can always bring more later or buy them locally). You may want to coordinate with your new roommate for some items such as televisions and cables, area rugs (where applicable), printers, etc. to avoid duplication. Cooking in residence hall rooms is restricted to coffee pots, hot air popcorn poppers, and hot pots. Personal microwave ovens are only allowed in Community/Duncan Dunn, Global Scholars, Northside and Olympia Avenue halls (only one per room). All authorized items must be used on a noncombustible surface. All electrical items have to be UL approved. What to Bring (suggestions) Bedding--extra-long twin sheets with deep pockets (beds are 36” x 80”), pillows and pillowcases, mattress pad or foam topper, comforter/bedspread, blankets
Rooms in Orton, Regents, Scott/Coman, Stephenson Complex and Streit/Perham have wall carpeting on two of the walls so small nails and tacks can be used there. The following halls should use push pins which we hand out at opening, or very small nails (16 gauge brad) or old style picture hangers: Community/Duncan Dunn, Global Scholars, Elmina White Honors Hall, McEachern, Northside Olympia, and Stimson; 3M products are strongly discouraged in these halls as they will pull off the paint and Sheetrock paper causing damage.
