Justin Trudeau gets surprise shout-out from Trump in speech to Congress (VIDEO) Gregor Robertson puts new City logo on hold Artist to recreate Digital Orca sculpture using LEGO The Digital Orca sculpture at Jack Poole Plaza is a Vancouver landmark, but one local artist is looking to recreate it using only LEGO. Robin Sather, Canada’s only LEGO certified professional, is creating the one-third scale replica in front of a crowd at the LEGO Imagine Nation Tour that’s coming to the Vancouver Convention Centre starting Friday. LEGO Imagination Tour Vancouver 2016 “In other cities we did the Saddledome in Calgary, the parliament buildings in Ottawa, and the Habitat 67 in Montreal,” Sather, who’s on a nation-wide tour with LEGO, tells Daily Hive. “We have a few cool buildings in Vancouver, but nothing really stands out dramatically, other than the five sails, and I always like to build things that are tall.” Sather estimates that he’ll use 5,000 pieces of LEGO to recreate the Digital Orca, even on a smaller scale.

He said it was an obvious choice to recreate Douglas Coupland’s pixelated orca whale, since it sits just outside the Convention Centre where the event is taking place. Sather adds that he’s a big fan and friend of Coupland’s. This isn’t Sather’s first LEGO rodeo. He’s built other creations, including portraits, seaplanes, peace signs, and holiday-themed sculptures. You can see Sather build the Digital Orca replica this weekend at the LEGO Imagine Nation Tour.Little boy accidentally DESTROYS LEGO artwork worth £10,000 A YOUNG boy has landed himself in hot water after accidentally destroying an artist’s £10,000 Lego sculpture. wellChinese artist Zhao had spent three days and nights painstakingly piecing together a massive sculpture of Nick, the fox from Zootopia. The piece was displayed at the Lego Expo on Sunday in Ningbo, China. It was placed behind a rope to warn visitors not to touch it and as a way to protect it from damage. But organisers did not count on the over-excited boy coming to the Expo.wellThe fox sculpture lasted an hour before the five-year-old child smashed it to to little Lego pieces.

Zhao said the child’s parents were very apologetic for the disaster. The artist even declined compensation, as he felt the child hasn’t meant to break the artwork. The Lego bricks for the sculpture were loosely glued together but it was not strong enough to endure any pushes. Iconic stadiums built with Lego bricks A British designer has used more than 25,000 pieces of Lego to build impressive models of Old Trafford, Anfield and Highbury.
