Tony Albert

🔳📷🗿Tony Albert (born 1981) is a contemporary Australian artist working in a wide range of mediums including painting, photography and mixed media. 

His work engages with political, historical and cultural Aboriginal and Australian history, and his fascination with kitsch “Aboriginalia".

Examining the legacy of racial and cultural misrepresentation, particularly of Australia’s Aboriginal people, Albert has developed a universal language that seeks to rewrite historical mistruths and injustice.

In 2014 Albert was awarded the Basil Sellers Art Prize and the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award.
