As we all know from my last tweet, Pavel Durov - Founder of Telegram has released a major update.

In this thread, we will go into this post why it is huge and can massively effect the [@​Ton_blockchain](https://twitter.com/Ton_blockchain).

Let’s have a look at the update first:

From March, Telegram, with its 1 billion active users, will activate Telegram ads in over 100 countries,
Sharing 50% of the revenue from advertising with Telegram channel owners.
Telegram will exclusively use TON Blockchain and Toncoin for all transactions and payments to channel owners.

What does this mean for users?

Telegram has over 1 billion users as of 2023 and growing its user base 40% annually
2.5 million users sign up for Telegram everyday
Telegram has long been the home of crypto users and advocates and considered the default mode of communication in the crypto community.

→ With the massive adoption of Telegram in the crypto space in the past years, the 50% share from ads shows the dedication to its community and incentivize creators for their contributions

→ The ads will also be activated across 100 countries will signal a significant push for blockchain utilization in mainstream digital platforms.

→ Telegram is poised to become number one platform for cryptocurrency enthusiasts, outpacing rivals like Discord in terms of convenience and now additional benefits from ads.

What does this mean for Ton_blockchain?

Toncoin is a blockchain network originally created in 2018 by Telegram
Telegram raised $1.7 billion in private funding to build its new blockchain, which was meant to be a competitor to Ethereum
With its native token $TON, the ecosystem currently holding a significant position in market capitalization, driven by user engagement and a thriving ecosystem.
The marketcap is holding at $9.4b with FDV of $13b, ranking at [#18](https://twitter.com/hashtag/18) largest projects in the market.
