Theme Guide - Installing a Desktop Theme

Takanu Kyriako

Installing a theme is a pretty quick and easy process. First, you need to find a .tdesktop-theme file on any Telegram chat (if the theme file you want to install is on your computer instead, scroll down to find out how to add it). Try visiting @themes for lots of desktop themes to choose from.

When you find the theme file you want to install, click the download icon on it to start downloading it.  Once done, simply click the file icon to get a preview of what the theme looks like.

If you're happy with the changes it will make, click Apply This Theme at the bottom, and voila!

Installing a Theme file from your Computer

If your lovely .tdesktop-theme file isn't on a Telegram chat then you'll need to send it to yourself first. Click on the Menu Icon in the top-right of the Chats List, and then click on the little Cloud Icon next to your name.

This will bring up a conversation with yourself which only you can see, and is an ideal place to also store other personal files or notes. Just drag the file from your File Explorer into the chat window, or click on the Paperclip icon at the bottom of the chat interface to select and upload your theme file.

Now you have it in a Telegram chat, just click it to preview and install the theme!

Going back to the Default Theme

If you want to stop using a custom theme and go back to the default one, you can do so by clicking the Menu Icon in the top-right of the Chats List, selecting Settings from the list, and then scrolling down until you see Use Default Color Scheme under the Chat Background heading. Click it to switch back to the default theme.
