ZONTA Tribute Award--This is Zonta’s major fundraiser where we honor outstanding women in the community; all the funds raised provide for the local programs and projects for our community. We also support at least one International Amelia Earhart Fellowship every year. LUNAfest—Was established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the whole nutrition bar for women to simultaneously promote women filmakers, raise awareness for women's issues and support worthy women's nonprofit organizations througout the U.S.




Amelia Earhart--Amelia was a Zontian and the Fellowship is for young women pursuing a doctorate in aerospace-related science and aerospace-related engineering. Jane M. Klausman--Jane M. Klausman was a professional secretary, parliamentarian and entrepreneur. She knew the challenges faced by women pursuing careers in business and understood the importance of helping women become business leaders. Jane M. Klausman Scholarships work to support women who demonstrate outstanding potential in business-related fields. Young Women in Public Service--These Awards recognize pre-university and pre-college women students committed to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations. Virginia Wrage--She was a dedicated and loved Zontian, mother, and grandmother who, at the age of 50, faced a family crisis that resulted in a major career change for her. Virginia applied for, and after a rigorous nine-month course, fulfilled a childhood dream of becoming a flight attendant for American Airlines.




Two years later, Virginia was diagnosed with cancer. Before her death, she helped plan a fund that would assist other mature women through challenges such as those she faced The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation awards grants to community agencies to emphasize our mission of “Advancing the Status of Women.” Winners for 2016 are Samuel Dixon Health Center, Single Mothers Outreach, American Association of University Women, Carousel Ranch Advocacy--In 2016, the UNiTE Campaign will continue to mark 25th of every month as “Orange Day,” a day to raise awareness and take action to end violence against women and girls. Orange Days will highlight specific Sustainable Development Goals as they relate to violence against women and girls. Check in here for themes, action ideas and messages. The global goals are for everyone, and to fully achieve them, everyone has a role to play in ending gender inequality and violence. Girls Robotics Program--The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita has joined forces with the Boys and Girls Club to offer a Robotics Program for Girls.




This program is designed to foster interest and skills in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. Girls, ages 9-14, will learn to design, program and control fully-functional Lego Mindstorm Robots LifeForward--The workshops meet a critical need in the Santa Clarita Valley by offering programs and workshops that are designed to empower women. Experienced instructors present topics that support economic independence and self-sufficiency. Domestic Violence Court Advocacy—This program, in partnership with the Domestic Violence Center of SCV, provides Advocates to help victims understand and prepare to navigate the complex court system; in addition to being an advocate in the court hearings. Women in Service Celebration—The Carmen Sarro Award--Each year, Zonta invites other community service organizations to nominate one of their own members who has contributed to the improvement of the status of women through volunteer service to their organization. Each nominee is recognized at our annual "Women in Service" (formerly "Status of Women") Celebration in early Spring.




Our committee selects one of the nominees to receive the coveted "Carmen Sarro Award" for outstanding community service. Since ZONTA International was founded in 1919, Zontians have been passionate about empowering women in developing countries through international service. In the more than 90 years since its first international service project was funded, Zonta International has contributed more than US$15.5 million to projects benefiting women in 35 countries. Through funding from the Zonta International Foundation, the Zonta International Service Program has provided training, education, health, sanitation, agricultural and micro-credit assistance to women, primarily through projects implemented by the agencies of the United Nations and other recognized non-governmental organizations. During the 2014-2016 Biennium, three projects are being supported by the International Service Fund: Towards Elimination of Obstetric Fistula and Reduction of Maternal and Newborn Mortality in Liberia
